Accepting applications now for The Urban Farm Incubator at Watkins Regional Park: Growing Food, Farms & Farmers in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
The site will be a training ground to help farmers decide if they have a viable business plan, as well as determine their land and infrastructure needs when looking to purchase farmland. It will provide greater opportunities for support to all farmers on-site through common infrastructure, equipment, mentoring, and technical assistance to help launch their businesses successfully.

I'm FULLY vaccinated and, no, I don't know what's in it - neither this vaccine, the ones I had as a child, the ones I had to have to travel the world, nor in the 11 secret herbs and spices at KFC, or hot dogs, or other treatments…whether it's for cancer, AIDS, the vaccine for pneumonia, or vaccines for infants or children.
I also don't know what's in Ibuprofen, Tylenol, or other meds, it just cures my headaches & my pains.
I don't know what's in the ink for tattoos, vaping, Botox and fillers, or every ingredient in my soap or shampoo or even deodorants. I don’t know the long term effect of mobile phone use or whether or not that restaurant I just ate at REALLY used clean foods and washed their hands.
In short ...
There's a lot of things I don't know and never will…
I just know one thing: life is short, very short, and I still want to do something other than just staying locked in my home. I still want to travel and hug people without fear and find a little feeling of life "before".
As a child and as an adult I've been vaccinated for mumps, measles, polio, chickenpox, and quite a few others; my parents and I trusted the science and never had to suffer through or transmit any of the said diseases and,
I'm vaccinated, not to please the government but:
* To not die from Covid-19.
* To NOT clutter a hospital bed if I get sick.
* To hug my loved ones
* To Not have to do PCR or antigenic tests to go to a restaurant, go on holidays and many more things to come ...
* To live my life.
* To see and hug my family and friends
* For Covid-19 to be an old memory.
* To protect us.

The visit of Secretary Vilsack to ECO City Farms on 10/12/21 was exciting in part because it has been a long while since we have hosted all of our staff and trainees, let alone colleagues, partners, elected representatives and supporters. This group represents a few from each category! And in Kwesi’s hands, our adopted farm feline!
Sustainable agriculture is at the heart of what we do at ECO!
Providing the community with naturally grown produce while regenerating the land we use to grow on is vital to having a long lasting, positive impact on our environment. It is estimated that farmers will need to grow about 70% more food in order to feed the population of the world by 2050. At the same time, a large portion of the food we eat is produced in ways that are not beneficial to the environment.

Engaged Community Offshoots, Inc. (ECO City Farms) is a nonprofit urban teaching and learning farm in Prince George's County that grows great food, farms and farmers in ways that protect, restore and sustain the natural environment and the health of local communities. Urban agriculture is about feeding people and nurturing communities, and also about practicing climate-smart agriculture. Our work intersects environmental preservation, neighborhood revitalization and community health. Our two “Certified Naturally Grown” farms are infrastructural fixes for the many community ills created by an inequitable local food system and environmental injustice. We seek to reverse the impact of outdated policies that make industrially produced, environmentally destructive, highly processed and less nutritious food the most abundant and cheapest available option in Prince George’s County’s low-income neighborhoods. ECO's educational programs retool residents with knowledge, gathering spaces and skills aimed at creating a healthier, more local, equitable and greener environment and economy.
