So much yummy stuff being harvested! We have made peach popsicles, watermelon popsicles, and cantaloupe blueberry popsicles! We have been having fun reaping the rewards of our labor in this year’s garden!

What do you do when the squash starts taking over? You make squash casserole and put it in the freezer. This dish made 12 servings! For some things we prefer to make the recipes and then freeze them into meals rather than preserving just the vegetables and cooking later.

We air fried some meatballs using Baldwin Beef Ancestral Blend ground beef and they are so full of flavor. For those who might not know what the ancestral blend is, it is ground beef with beef liver and beef hearts included. It cooks up very lean. We ❤️ Baldwin’s grass fed beef here at Life Abounds Farm!

Happy onions! The chickens love to eat the onion greens. Just chop them up a bit and it makes a tasty snack. Don’t feed chickens the white part of the bulb though. Chickens can eat the greens, not the flesh.

So, what did you do this weekend? We processed Rudd Ranger roos. We are leaving the hens to grow out a bit more as they seemed to be developing slower but more well-rounded. The roos had already gotten to the crowing, mating, and aggression stage where you don’t typically get that far with Cornish cross due to processing them younger. We will now let them age in the fridge for about 48 hours to let rigor pass and then package them for the freezer.
