Sun's out, tongues out! Continue reading to hear the incredible stories that surround these two giant goofballs.
We rescued Benson when he was 9 months old (thank you, !!). He is now 2.5 yo (and still very much a puppy) and 145 lbs. He has eaten three couches, a vacuum, five pillows, three blankets, countless socks and towels, and despite feeding Daisy multiple kinds of no-poop-eating chews, he tends to enjoy the occasional Daisy-doo-doo. 🤢 💩 Despite all that, we love him so much! He has the sweetest face, big brown eyes, and is afraid of absolutely everything.
Daisy is approximately 6.5 yo. We rescued her as a senior (by Great Dane standards) at 5.5 yo from Hoover's Hause in North Prairie. She was severely abused and neglected, nearly half the weight she is now, infested with heartworms and hookworms, has lots of scar tissue, and has a permanent impression of a rope around her snout from being bound too tight. She was in a kennel with two other dogs, one of which was already dead. She lived in a veterinary clinic for six months before her journey to Wisconsin and finding her forever home with us. She is an absolute joy and super smart. We never knew how special senior dogs could be.
Most people ask how much they eat. Between the two of them, they eat 18 cups of food a day. That doesn't count all the treats!
The number one comment about Benson when we take them out is, "Wow, you can put a saddle on him!" One time we were going to track how many times people said it, but it was easier to track how many times people didn't say it. 🤣
Great Danes truly are gentle giants. Benson has taught Daisy how to sit on the couch and also on your lap. They love to sleep most of the day away and really don't require a lot of exercise, despite their size. Benson will get the zoomies once or twice a day, but other than that, they tend to just relax close to the house.
One of the best investments we ever made for our dogs was to purchase a for each of them. It's a virtual collar with a fence you create via an app on your phone (up to 20 locations!) guides you through the training process. We highly recommend Halo!

Hurry on over to Little Miss Sweet Pea's Farm Market today until 3 PM! They're having a bag sale! As much produce as you can fit into a plastic bag (with just a few limitations) for $15! Everything in the first picture was in my bag! Also pictured are some of my faves, including homemade guacamole (OMG soooooo good!!), Vern's string cheese whips, and these gorgeous sunflowers! 🌻

Yesterday we celebrated this beautiful mama-to-be with a vintage garden shower, complete with baby goats and baby angora bunnies. We cannot wait to meet little Miss Ella Rose. ❤️🌹

Happy Pride Month, y'all! Remember to focus on the good. A new report came out saying 75% of non-LGBTQ+ Americans support LGBTQ+ rights. For the other 25%, a portion of those people most likely won't ever change their mind. However, some of them may be open to a dualistic perspective in which can learn to understand through education and empathy. Remember that the word Ally is a verb. Don't be afraid to take action in supporting those who need you most. Love is love.

We were inspired to create a live aquascape in our home. Meet Fred the Fish, along with his many snail friends. Details below.
It's a rimless 15-gallon cube tank that we purchased on Facebook Marketplace. It came with the filter, heater, thermometer, pothos holder, substrate, several plants and moss, the driftwood in the back, most of the water, plant fertilizer, and all the snail friends for just $100. We also ordered variegated wisteria, baby tears, a red tiger lotus, A+ Plant Booster Growth Juice, and Liquid CO2 from DustinsFishTanks.com. The bseah dual-head grow light is from Amazon. Then we went to PetSmart for the fancy betta, water conditioner, food, test strips, and gorgeous piece of African mopani hardwood. All in at $300 for a much more expensive set-up. It's an absolute delight with wonderful sounds.

Please welcome Bob Marley to 3 Little Birds Natural Farm!! This was so spur of the moment. I woke up and decided to buy a bird today. Spent the morning researching what I was looking for, which mainly was small, hearty, and a pretty song. A Canary seemed like the perfect fit. Then I searched on Facebook marketplace until I found a usable vintage cage with a stand and glass feeder and waterer. A good friend of mine works for PetSmart corporate, so they are always my go-to. Little Bob Marley settled in immediately, singing his sweet songs.

Monstera albo variegata for sale in time for the holidays!! Pics of mother plant and propagation process included. Taking reservations and deposits now. We have THREE rooted, two-leaf, extremely healthy, potted plants at $500 each. Ready for local pickup in mid December.

Welcome to the farm, Marigold (grey tabby) and Zinnia (solid grey)! We mentioned to that we were searching for friendly barn cats, and she delivered with these two adorable, sweet, 14-week-old rescues. They're residing in the wood shed (old chicken coop) till they become used to their surroundings, and then they'll be full-time hunters of mice and chipmunks. 🐁🐿️ They've lived with chickens up until now, and they'll have their choice of sleeping in the wood shed, duck coop, or chicken coop. It'll be interesting to see which one they choose. Stop by for some kitten cuddles. ❤️

Stepping up our plant game over here. Welcome Maggie, a Monstera Delisioca ‘Albo-Variegata' from a local grower.
invited me on a plant date to in Racine, WI last weekend, and unbeknownst to us, they were hosting a massive orchid show.
We approached one of the vendors as everyone was packing up, when I first spotted a lovely variegated jade. Then I saw her, in-person for the first time in my life, this rare beauty. I literally flushed, as if meeting a celebrity plant crush equivalent to or 😍😍. It didn't take much convincing from Nancy for me to splurge on my dream plant. However, I don't think Brian will ever let the two of us go shopping together again. 😂 Before we departed for the day, Nancy said she felt like we just went to Vegas and I was the big winner. 🎰
Maggie, named after the gracious woman who sold her to me, has had a bath, sits in a western window with 24-hour grow lights, a humidifier, and is tucked away from the likes (and licks) of the giant puppy. We're hoping she'll give us babies in the next year or two. 🌱

We rescued Benson four months ago, and he is the best puppy! He's 13.5 months old, 35" at his withers, 130 #, and eats 12 cups of food a day. He's 100% obsessed with his mama, loves his sister, Stella, and enjoys sitting on the couch. We love you, Benny-boo.

So glad I ventured outside today to capture all this beauty after sitting at the kitchen table for 12 hours yesterday and 8 hours today. Grad school started back up and the end of Q1 is next week, so grading has also consumed me.

Our very first (and only) apple! We planted golden delicious, honey crisp, and bounty peach trees this spring. With the intense droughts and heat this spring, summer, and fall, we're first and foremost so proud of ourselves for keeping these saplings alive. And then to get a fruit from one of them was just pure deliciousness. It tasted just as good as it looks. 😋🍏🍎🍑

This dual leash from is amazing! We weren't sure if Stella Blue and Benson would be okay being this close together, especially since Benson has only been with us for two weeks, but it's like they're walking each other, and we barely do any of the work. Meet Benson!! He's a 110 pound, 9.5 month old, Great Dane rescue. Fully potty trained, walks beautifully on a leash, and LOVES his mama. Stella Blue (daddy's girl) still isn't quite sure about him, but we've been told it'll take a few months for Blue to accept him. Anyone have tips, stories to share, or reassurances for us?

Our OG, Blanche, a 4 yo Barred Rock, has laid two of these this year. They have free choice oyster shells and crushed up egg shells for added calcium, but as chickens age, their egg quantity and quality decreases. That doesn't mean we love her any less.
