Michele Stute, shepherdess of Little Prairie Cluns, SE Wisconsin, Reg. Clun Forest sheep est. 1994 Member of OPP Concerned Sheep Breeders Society.

Little Prairie Cluns began in 1994 and grew to a flock of more than 40 registered Clun ewes at the Stute farm in the Town of Troy near Little Prairie, hence the name. In 2013, the flock was down-sized to a farmette at the current location. I am a member and past officer of the North American Clun Forest Association. Flock WI46 has been in the Scrapie Flock Certification Program since inception and

was SFCP Certified but now is a Select Monitored flock. I helped import semen from rams from the Netherlands in 2003-2004, and have successfully produced offspring to help bring in new genetics with my co-owners as well. Rams from my flock have been imported to Canada twice. There is nothing better than hearing and seeing those newborn Clun lambs arrive and start hopping around! We are settling in back home from the 49th annual NACFA meeting at Bramble Hill near Houston MN across the Mississippi River bluffs. Have few flock additions from the trip including a new ewe from Wildrose near Mt Horeb on the drive back. Here are my new Bramble Hill girls conversing on subject.

The AI babies are 4 months old now. They are shedding baby fuzz (face and legs) so get to see their type better! Meet the twin ram Owen, Prairie OWE K42! He has what I describe as a soft and prominent Clun eye. Will see how he fills out.

2022 lamb crop sire will be Sugar Baron F05 who had clean up duty following AI. he produced some nice lambs last year. Ram lamb J59 kept the new ewe lamb company, and she him, so we will see if those 2 youngsters produce this year.

On a cold Wisconsin day, dreaming of a couple of these to arrive in April for myself. Lambs in the picture are from sire 2004 U.S. semen import Netherlands ram OWE 227 from that era. Pic is a bit grainy.
