This one was definitely a race against the weather! ⛈️

We received a call about a rental property where a tree had fallen, exposing a bee hive living inside a tree cavity. We contacted the landlord, worked with the tenant, and came up with a plan that would keep everyone safe while giving these bees a second chance. 🐝❤️

We negotiated to:
🌳 Safely cut a portion of the damaged tree
🏠 Remove branches that were touching the neighbor’s roof
🐝 Carefully remove and relocate the colony
🍯 Give these hardworking bees a new home at our apiary

And we got it done just in time—right before the rain started! 🙌

Working in 100+ degree Texas heat, wearing a bee suit, surrounded by angry bees who are NOT happy that we’re taking their home, is no joke! 😂🐝🥵 That’s one reason we try to use electric tools whenever possible. They’re lighter, easier to handle, and help us conserve energy when we’re already working in extreme heat.

The tenant was happy, the landlord was relieved, and most importantly, the bees are safe and relocated to their new home. 🐝🏡🍯 Another successful removal and another colony given a chance to thrive! ❤️🇺🇸

🐝🌻 Today Was About More Than Just Removing a Hive …Today, we had the opportunity to remove a hive that had made its home right at the front door of a wonderful family. 🐝🏡

What started as a bee removal turned into a beautiful opportunity to meet the family and learn that the gentleman is the owner of the ranch where they live. We may have even planted a little seed today…🌱🐝 a future beekeeper!

We carefully left the bee box in place for a couple of days, giving the bees time to settle in. When we returned, we were excited to find the box full of bees! We safely transported them to the apiary, where they can continue doing what bees do best. 🍯🐝

We also left the family with some honey still in the comb, and they were absolutely excited about the opportunity to jar their own honey from the comb. 🍯❤️

Moments like this remind us that beekeeping isn’t just about bees and honey. It’s about education, conservation, community, and sharing a little piece of the hive with others.

Who knows…maybe someday we’ll be visiting this ranch to see their very first hive! 🐝🌻🍯

Save the bees. Share the knowledge. Plant the seed. Grow the hive. 🐝❤️

🐝🔥 Not every hive can be saved… and not every piece of wax can be saved either!

Here at the apiary, sometimes we get hives that have been taken over by wax moths. When that happens, I try to salvage what I can—especially the valuable beeswax. Usually, I’ll boil the wax down, strain it, and recover it into wax blocks that we can use later.

But this batch? 😳 The wax moths won this round!

There were so many larvae, webbing, and debris that the wax simply wasn’t worth recovering. So instead, here I am boiling down the mess and saying goodbye to what could have been some beautiful beeswax. 😂🐛

Beekeeping isn’t always pretty. Sometimes it’s honey, sometimes it’s bees… and sometimes it’s wax moth larvae soup! 🤣

Every hive teaches us something, even the ones that don’t make it.

🐝🍯 Another day at the apiary!

🐝🕯️ FROM THE HIVE TO A BLOCK OF BEESWAX!

What started as old wax that needed to be cleaned up gets a second life! 🙌

We boil and melt the beeswax, allowing all the old honey, propolis, debris, and other material to separate. Then comes the important part — filtering the melted wax to remove as much of the unwanted material as possible.

After it cools and hardens, we’re left with this beautiful block of beeswax! 🐝💛

Beekeeping is all about reusing, recycling, and not letting those hive resources go to waste.

Interested in getting some beeswax for your own candles, crafts, or projects? 🕯️

🐝🌳 ANOTHER BEE REMOVAL IN THE BOOKS! 🌳🐝

We were called out for a bee removal from a tree, and after talking with the customer, we came up with a plan that worked out perfectly. He was already wanting the branch removed, so we agreed to cut the branch and safely remove the hive at the same time.

With a few ties, a couple of ninja moves 🥷, right tools. and a whole lot of teamwork, we got that branch down and the hive safely removed!

And let me tell you… this was a VERY, VERY long hive. You could tell this colony had been there for many years. 🐝🍯

But the best part of this removal? The customer is a fellow veteran! 🇺🇸 He suited up in one of our extra bee suits and jumped right in to help us finish the job—even though we were working into the late hours.

Now THAT is the kind of teamwork I love. 🤝🐝

One successful removal, one awesome new teammate, and definitely one of my favorite removals in the books!

P.S. The client liked it so much he went and bought himself a bee suit and is already wanting to come help us however he can! 😂🐝 We’ll see when we can take him along on an on-the-ground removal and officially put him to work! 🤪

Veterans helping veterans. Beekeepers helping bees. And a whole lot of crazy in between. 🇺🇸🐝❤️

🐝🍯 Happy National Honey Bee Day! 🍯🐝

Today we celebrate the tiny workers that do BIG things for our world! 🌻🐝

There’s nothing quite like getting up close and watching the girls at work—the buzzing, the teamwork, the pollen coming in, and of course, the honey! ❤️

Every time I’m in the apiary, I’m reminded just how incredible these little creatures are. They pollinate our food, support our ecosystems, and somehow manage to keep us beekeepers on our toes! 😂

So today, take a moment to thank a honey bee… and Hives For Heroes for providing the tools to begin my journey to meet these wonderful creatures! Maybe plant a flower or two for them today 🌻🌼

🎥 Turn up the volume and get a close-up look at my girls doing what they do best!

🐝 Happy National Honey Bee Day from our apiary to yours!

Another day at the apiary! 🐝🍯

Bees are working, honey is flowing, and like Billy Currington says God is great, Beer is good… and people are crazy! 😂

Wouldn’t trade this life for anything. There’s just something about being out at the apiary, working with the bees, and enjoying the blessings that come with it.

🐝🎬 BEEKEEPER MOVIE NIGHT! 🍿🐝

Heading to the movies tonight because SantPalladium Santikosowing The Rivals of Amziah King! And you already KNOW I’m going in my BEST beekeeper gear! 😂🐝

Hey, don’t kill my vibe! If kids can dress up to go watch their favorite anime movies, I can absolutely dress up like a beekeeper to go see a movie about beekeeping! 🤣🍯

Matthew McConaughey plays Amziah King, a beekeeper and honey business owner whose world gets turned upside down when his former foster daughter returns. And of course… tMatthew McConaugheyAs a beekeeper myself, I’ve GOT to see how Hollywood handles the honey business. 😂
The movie hits theaters nationwide on August 21, 2026, but Santikos is giving us an early look.

Now let’s see if Hollywood got the beekeeping part right! 🐝🍯 Don’t kill my vibe… I’m going to the movies! 😂
