We’ve had a lot of questions lately about the difference between our 3-string Western Alfalfa and local 2-string Alfalfa, so here’s a quick breakdown for anyone trying to decide what fits their feeding regimen best.

Our 3-string Western Alfalfa is a heavier bale with rich color, strong consistency, and the quality a lot of horse owners look for when they want premium forage in the barn. Great for performance horses, hard keepers, or anyone needing a little more out of their hay program.

Our local 2-string Alfalfa gives you a solid feeding option closer to home. Easier to handle, dependable quality, and a good fit for many everyday feeding routines without sacrificing nutrition.

At the end of the day, every barn feeds a little differently, and that’s why we try to keep multiple options in stock instead of a one-size-fits-all approach.

Today we pause to remember the men and women who gave everything for this country. Memorial Day is more than the start of summer or a long weekend, it’s a day to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who never made it home.

From all of us at Tice Farms, we want to thank the families carrying those memories every day. Your sacrifice is never forgotten.

We will be closed Monday in observance of Memorial Day and will reopen Tuesday for regular business hours and deliveries.

Not all alfalfa fits everyone’s needs the same way, which is why we continue to keep both 2-string and 3-string options moving through the yard.

Some customers prefer the smaller, easier-to-handle 2-string bales for daily feeding and storage convenience. Others like the larger western 3-string option when they’re feeding more mouths and moving through hay quicker.

At the end of the day, it comes down to what works best for your farm.

Good hay matters, and having options matters too.

It usually starts pretty innocently.

You buy a really fancy purse at Tractor Supply. It’s so cute, and you take it home to your husband, who now says: “Ohhhhh wow, what did you just sign me up for?”
