It is the main activator of all the plant spirits.
It is like the key to the ignition of a car, as far as plants go.
Traditional tobacco was given to indigenous peoples so that they could communicate with the spirit world.

I am so incredibly delighted to be cultivating such a special, magical plant this season.
And feel so honored to be in the presence of this sacred and holy medicine that we are growing exclusively as an offering to use while wild harvesting.
Tobacco is offered before picking medicines.
When you offer tobacco to a plant and explain why you are there, that plant will let all the plants in the area know why you are coming to pick them.
It is just another way we can show our respect to the plant world, to the source.
I love, value, follow and deeply respect indigenous culture, knowledge and teachings.
Our moutain-top property is filled with their spirit, it is something we have always felt.
And it seems like the more we mindfully work with plants, the more is revealed to us.

New Bee Yard progress! 🐝 😍🍯
We are expanding once again this year, which means, we needed more space.
So, while I was at the Farmer's Market, this and last weekend, Bill worked on this new spot.
We have to protect them with an electric fence, especially since this yard is set more in the woods.
He is such a champ and works so tirelessly. I am so very proud of him and everything we are able to accomplish because of him.
This may seem small to some but to us it is HUGE.
We will be operating 30 hives this year! Just the 2 of us.
(10 more than last year)
And they will be arriving Tuesday. ❤🐝
Working with bees is such a divine pleasure. They have taught me so much. Mindfulness, patience, teamwork, harmony, and most of all joy.

Monarda fistulosa is a favorite of ours.
A friend to pollinators so our bees enjoy it, too. 《& will often be found dining in the field full of this magnificent plant》
This gorgeous plant has been used by many Indigenous American tribes and is considered a very important plant for its numerous food and medical uses. Many tribes used it in different ways with or as a food. (& when I read that a plant was widely used by the original inhibitors of this land, I always know it is one to trust, personally speaking)
Various tribes would use it to treat a variety of complaints, but especially those connected with the digestive system.
The leaves and flowering stems are carminative, diaphoretic, diuretic and stimulant. An infusion is used internally in the treatment of colds, catarrh, headaches, gastric disorders, aching kidneys, to reduce low fevers and soothe sore throats.
Externally, it is applied as a poultice to skin eruptions, cuts etc and as a wash for sore eyes.
This beautiful plant contains the volatile oil "bergamot oil" which can be inhaled to treat bronchial complaints. The leaves also contain "thymol", another volatile oil that can be used to expel gas from the digestive tract.
I often rely on this plant often, and now especially, during allergy season.
This is a wild herb that grows abundantly in our field of dreams. It will always inspire me how we seem to have everything we need in nature. ♡
