I am so excited to see the rest of this series!! There’s a common misconception that you have to own/show animals to be a 4h member, and that could not be further from the truth!!! Follow the Isabella County 4-H page to see more in the coming weeks! 🍀
🍀 DID YOU KNOW YOU CAN DO THIS IN 4-H? 🍀
🐶🐱🐰🐔🐐🐹 WEEK 1: SMALL ANIMALS!
Think you need a cow, pig or horse to show in 4-H? Think again!
Youth can show dogs, cats, rabbits, poultry, goats and pocket pets! And if you're thinking, “But we have no idea how to show one!” — that's okay! 💚
Our Small Animal program has experienced superintendents and volunteers with many years of knowledge in their species who are here to help youth learn and grow. Each summer, we also offer FREE clinics for 4-H members, where youth can learn proper handling, showmanship techniques, animal care and what to expect in the show ring.
You don't have to already know how to show — 4-H is where you LEARN how! 🍀
✨ WHAT DOES FAIR WEEK LOOK LIKE?
🐶 Saturday: Dog Show — come in, show and go home!
🐱 Sunday: Cat Show — come in, show and go home!
🐰🐔🐐 Rabbits, poultry & goats also check in Sunday for the week.
🐰 Monday: Rabbit Day
🐔 Tuesday: Poultry Day — did you know you can even show a dozen eggs?! 🥚
🐐 Wednesday: Goat Day + Small Animal Auction that evening
🐹 Thursday: Pocket Pet Day — come in, show and go home!
📍 Live outside Isabella County?
Youth who live outside the county can participate in our Small Animal program but must attend a Small Animal Association meeting. Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month.
🍀 Join or re-enroll in Isabella County 4-H by October 31!
