from seven eggs, six pheasant chicks hatched. then things got interesting. one escaped into the garage and was discovered when Charlie proudly walked into the house carrying it. Shaniko managed to find one garage escapee and return it, but another vanished and was never seen again. later, after the pheasants were moved outside, one more disappeared without a trace. no signs, no clues, just gone. that left three wild pheasants for release day. one hopped right out of the box. the other two needed a little more convincing, and one briefly headed toward the house before finally making its way into the field. from seven eggs to three wild pheasants. good luck, little ones. ❤️

I know this is a long shot, but I’m looking for an old phone booth for a project at Ristau Family Farm in Emmett. I’d like to create a Wind Phone in our lavender field, a quiet place where people can connect with loved ones they miss. The words spoken into it are carried away on the wind to those we miss. Whether it’s a parent, spouse, child, friend, or anyone whose voice you wish you could hear again, the Wind Phone gives people a place to speak from the heart and feel close to those they have lost. After losing both of my parents, I know what it’s like to wish I could call my mom one more time. My hope is to create a peaceful space not only for myself, but for anyone in our community carrying that same feeling. If you have an old phone booth collecting dust, or know where I might find one, I would be grateful. Thank you for helping bring this idea to life. 💜☎️🌿

before the blooms, there’s this. 🌱. we spent time planting flowers and peppers in the raised beds, repotting lavender, and getting our makeshift nursery ready for the months ahead. its not the glamorous part, but it’s the part that makes everything else possible. a little done every day adds up. 💜.

had allan and shelly over for smash burgers last night and finally got to show them around.

from the makeshift nursery to the garden beds, chickens, and lavender field, we got to share some of what we’ve been working on since last fall. they already knew the story from following along on facebook, but it’s different getting to walk someone through it in person. my favorite part wasn’t the lavender. it was sitting around talking, catching up, sharing stories, and having the place feel a little more alive. sometimes the best part of building something isn’t the thing itself. it’s getting to share it with people. we need to do this more often. 💜

We had one lavender plant it self but it’s white? How?!! 😱🤯 🪻

four years ago these were tiny lavender plants. today they stop people as they walk by. funny thing about growth is most of it happens when nobody is watching. the roots grow first.
the strength comes later. sometimes i think people are a lot like lavender. a little bit ago i was adjusting to a quieter house and trying to find my footing in a new season of life. now i’m building something new alongside my best friend. one row, one season, one ordinary day at a time. growth happens when nobody is watching.

planted the last of our super lavender by the chicken coop 🌱. for a little while it was just birds, crickets, sunshine, and the sound of working together. then reality kicked in…. “where’s charlie?”
“charlie!”
“CHARLIE COME HERE.” 😂kinda chaotic, kinda peaceful… and somehow my favorite part of all this.

First off, I am or will be okay. I had a terrible accident yesterday after work, but I am doing better now. I decided to go horseback riding, which I haven't done in quite a while. Well, I got on the horse and started out slow, and then we went a little faster, and then we were going as fast as the horse could go. All of a sudden I fell off and caught my foot in the stirrup and the horse was dragging me around in a circle. It wouldn't stop, it just kept going around and around. Thank goodness the store manager at Walmart came out and unplugged the carousel.

planted 150 grosso blue + seal lavender planted🌱
from what we’re learning, both are known for fragrance and more compact growth compared to some larger varieties. right now though? they mostly just look like tiny lavender sticks fighting for survival in Idaho wind 😂
sunny skies, freezing wind, sore backs, and still planting.
slowly building our little lavender farm one row at a time.

planting and edelweiss still sounds more like a beer than a lavender 😂🍺
this white lavandin is supposed to glow at dusk, which is why people use it in moon gardens. meanwhile we were out here cold, sore, getting whipped by Idaho wind, and trying not to kill delicate baby plants 😅
pretty sure we already lost a few… guess we’ll find out.
