As we work to migrate more of our goat posts from my personal page to our farm page, what better way to start than by introducing our new junior herdsire!
Last spring we attended a show in central Arkansas. I was walking through the barn, and was genuinely stopped in my tracks. Like a deer in the headlights, I stopped and stared. A doe stood in front of me, perfectly level top line, strong feet and legs, gorgeous well balanced udder, and the ideal amount of depth of barrel one would expect to see on a 2 year old. I truly could not (and still can’t) find any significant place to fault this doe. The doe was Shady Lawn RRRS Kyrie.
Finding out this doe was from the “K” line floored me, as I had admired the does of this line for years, but being a French Alpine breeder, had never had a use for experimental genetics in my breeding program. Funnily enough, that had changed just days before this show as we had the spontaneous opportunity to bring in a beautiful 50/50 Alpine/Saanen experimental when we brought the rest of our herd in from St. Louis to our new farm.
So now I had a good enough excuse to bring in something from the “K” line, AND the doe who stopped me in my tracks had ears! I began the conversation that weekend, almost one year ago now, to bring a son in from Kyrie. And here he is!
Introducing Shady Lawn SS King!

We are truly thrilled to see what additions this guy makes to our experimental program over the next few years, and cannot thank the Hitch’s enough for letting him come here ❤️
