UPDATE: May has found a new home with the wonderful family at Ak Mountain View Family Farm. Than you for all your love and support

Due to circumstances beyond mine and the kid’s control we are forced to sell off our cows. We are heartbroken.
This is May. She’s is so sweet. She is just over two years old. She is a mix of angus, Jersey, Holstein and brown Swiss. She is possibly pregnant with a Murray Grey. (I’ll update once we get results). Her mother makes the sweetest milk and has given us two years of sharing her milk with the community producing a manageable 3 gal a day for two years, perfect homestead cow.
We are asking $2,5šŸ„•šŸ„• for her to go to a very loving home with lots of yummy things to eat.

We have a bit of the spring ā€œdumbsā€ here at the farm today. All of the animals are a bit of handful 🤪✨

Often, we receive comments about the price of our farm items being too high, as do most of the farmers I know. Most of the farmers are also barely scraping by and are always on the verge of not being able to operate.
Our prices are a reflection of a collapsing monetary system, or a collapsing system in general, not a way for us to make our retirement.

Food accessibility and affordability is a major issue for us in the interior and yes our monetary prices are high, often too high for folks to afford.

It brings me to think about what we place value in. Asking a farmer to lower their prices is absurd. Maybe thoughts need to move to more of a barter system. Either you gain your farm fresh food items with money equal to their worth or….bring something else of equal worth to exchange.

Farmers need the money to by feed, pay our sky rocketing electricity, fuel, and all of the things. But I know most of us are open to the exchange of goods of equal value and need. If folks can’t ā€œaffordā€ our high value items it’s not the farmers fault. Maybe folks need to bring something to the table of more value.

This is a symptom of a larger issue and as long as we refuse to be creative and choose to be reactive rather than proactive we will be stuck and eventually destroy what potential we have as a community full of diverse people.

So excited. We have babies straight from our farm this year @ a 63% hatch rate so far and no losses. This definitely makes up for all the sad ones. 🐣
