Update on Adam.
He had an appointment with the spine dr yesterday. He is healing well, better than what he expected.
He is continuing PT and OT a few times a week but is again doing amazing.
Brain wise I would say he is about 95% back to himself. It still has to heal. That’s the long part but cognitively he is about the same.
His arm is making leaps and bounds with movement and healing. The graft is just about healed.
He is getting stronger and stronger every day.
Thank you all that has had us in your prayers and helped us through this difficult time. It’s been a blessing in its self. 💕💩🙏

I get asked all the time how we can butcher and eat our own animals the ones we raise and love.
Well we already paid for them so instead of going to the store and buying them we raise them then eat them. Well respect our animals and give them a good life. And at the end we do the same.
We do not think of them as pets as the average person does. We think of them as food and show them respect. It’s a different kind of love.
I know a lot of people do not want to see the face of the animal they are eating. Oh I was one of them for more years then I can count. It’s actually a newer concept for me also. So I do understand where most are coming from. But I will also say. Once you raise your own food or know where that food comes from it’s a whole different feeling. That respect and dedication you have for the animals is beyond anything you have ever felt.

Also because we eat them ourselves we do not sell anything we wouldn’t eat.

I tip and am a good tipper when we go out to eat. If I’m not sitting down I do not tip. But we don’t go out much.

Here in VT we are allowed to sell eggs in used cartons. But they have to be clean and in good shape. We will take them if in good condition.

Please recycle them if they are not reusable.
What should be thrown away!
Broken.
Weak.
Stained
Egg stains.
Shells
Ripped in the seem or tabs
Smells
If you crack your eggs the put them in the carton please toss them out. We do not want those back either.

We love to keep them out of the trash if possible. That’s why we take them to reuse.
Thank you.

Here is some great information from our UVM extension.
You can take a lot of information from these 2 snapshots

What I want to point out is the number of farmers we are losing and from what group!!!

We need to find a way to keep mall nd med farms farms. And not just farms dairy farms. We are losing them fast. What that means is we will have to hip most of our dairy in to the state instead of supporting our own.

Yes I know. Lot will say invest in doing it yourself or sell directly to consumers. Well that takes investment and money most do not have. Grants do not normally go to the ones that need it.

We are losing what it means to be a Vermonter. The ability to do what your dreams are.

On our farm we produce milk and eggs. That is what pays our bills. We charge accordingly for what it cost to produce those products.
Milk is sold in bulk with some raw milk sales.
Eggs are sold in our stand and in some stores. We give bulk discount but do not sell wholesale.

Now with our beef and chickens we sell them at cost. Why because they already paid for themselves with the other products. So this is a byproduct.

I have my chickens processed so I have that expense and then the electricity to freeze and store them. So I do not sell them by the pound.

Beef, again they paid for themselves when giving milk. So we charge by the package of what it cost to butcher them. Not what it cost to raise them.

When buying chickens, beef, pork and other meats that are raised for that purpose you have to pay that price to the farmer. If we raise meat birds solely for that purpose we would have to charge accordingly to make a living off doing that. That is why you are paying a premium for that meat. So when you see prices like mine in the stand know it’s not that I’m under cutting the market or trying to steal customers it’s just my beef and chickens arent the same product.
Talk to your farmers and know what you are buying and why!
It cost money to raise food and raise it right.
Farmers deserve to be paid fairly for the food they produce.
