Can you spot the 27 guinea keets, lol? First day out in the unmowed pasture and they are in heaven. If heaven had angels that randomly charged them and nipped them, anyway. There are 3 adult guineas and their 3 subadult kids also in the pasture. Two units of Premier electrofencing to keep out predators. And if the guineas fly over the fence, they will mostly land in various chicken enclosures, anyway.
Why do people keep guinea fowl? Pest control, silly antics, and keeping watch for predators. We had a terrible tick infestation on our land before we got guineas. The very next year we saw a total of one tick on our front 4 acres. They are simple, funny birds that make us laugh daily. And they certainly do warn everyone about birds of prey overhead. Our guinea rooster calls Taps at dusk each night to call all the poultry inside.
These guinea keets hatched July 12th. Super healthy batch of keets in many fun colors. They are available for $20.00 a piece. They are flock animals and you'll need 3+ to keep them happy. They are noisy, especially the first year, so country birds only. Your guineas will need to be kept inside an enclosure for a month or so to reset their homing beacon.
