Did you all have a good weekend?

Ours was eventful ....we have baby quail! We ended up getting some laying hens and a roo a few weeks back, and I wanted to check fertility before starting my hatching egg projects.

They're so cute! 😍

Hopefully I've gotten some more hens and a celadon male. Everytime I've hatched chicken eggs I get more roos than hens! This last hatch out of 18, 12 were roos🤦‍♀️😅

Our quail ladies have been hard at work laying some gorgeous eggs!
I'm testing fertility and hatching out some soon. So hopefully I can start selling some eggs and quail chicks!

Our chickens are laying great too, but only 3 of our hens are laying plus all but 6 of my ameraucana and olive egger hatches turned out to be roosters...very beautiful ones, but I don't need that many🤦‍♀️ 😅

Well...woke up this morning ( after being up until almost 4am due to the crazy storms) and found our quail hutch knocked...

Well...woke up this morning ( after being up until almost 4am due to the crazy storms) and found our quail hutch knocked over, front yard flooded, tree branches everywhere, our septic is flooded, garden pretty much gone, and the inside of chicken coop soaked.

We lost 1 quail 😭

BUT we're all safe, we have power, food, and no damage to the house. It could be worse. There are so many people losing their homes right now around us unfortunately some have lost their lives and it's supposed to continue to rain through the weekend. 😔

I'm praying for my fellow hoosiers! Please stay safe out there! 🙏 🩷

It's been 1 year since we moved into our beautiful home in the country. Our answered prayer.
It's still so surreal to know that this is ours. If you would've told me I'd be in the middle of nowhere in a farmhouse ,raising chickens, and growing our own food I wouldn't have believed you! 😅

We were praying for a way out of a terrible housing situation that we had been in for almost 10 years, and we were just hoping for a little starter home. We dreamed of homesteading, but we thought that wouldn't happen for a few more years and that was okay. Well we were wrong. God had other plans. God is so so good! It all happened so fast and now here we are living our best life a year later with our kiddos!
We're so grateful for every single minute of it! 🙌🩷🙏

How's everyone's week going so far?

Yesterday I scored big at my local tractor supply. They're having a huge clearance sale, and I got all these plants for 50 cents each! Some of them need to be rescued, but you can't beat that price! I bought 13 plants. 😁
They had Bonnie plants for 50% off, and for my fellow chicken addicts, the chicks and ducks are 50% off too. I was tempted, but I didn't do it! 🤣

14 out of 18 of my eggs hatched over the weekend. I wasn't expecting it!

But my fault for putting 18 eggs in as a test to see which incubator is better and if I'd get another blue ameraucana. Needless to say I found out! 😂🤷‍♀️

The babies are adorable though...😍
