Forest Bees Nuc Colony

The Forest Bees bee train (actually it’s a van, lol) starts in Spring. Order early as I always run out. First batch is Mar/Apr, then May, June and sometimes July. I won’t have info on queens for a few more weeks because the nucs have priority. Usually queens are available April and May.
My nucs are premium nucs that thrive in all areas. They travel like thoroughbred horses instead of truck freight. The bees are picked off the yard at Sunset and in your area the next am.

A little break from bees this morning. Aquaponics can be scaled up or down and can provide you with clean, safe food almost year round without a greenhouse in So Cal. These systems can be made with found materials or you can convert concrete planters in your yard or they ca be made to match I have been doing aquaponics since 1989. They are easy to get going.
You can use koi ponds or use cheap gold fish and crayfish.
Almost any size area can work as long as it gets 4-8 hours of Sun or grow shade plants!!! They can be made to go vertical above a fish tank. You can even grow indoor plants and trees.
Go Google and get inspired. There is pure gratification when you grow any of your own food or even non edible plants and flowers. Even non-plant people can have great success.

Last night at the new Beekeeper bar. Phil Wills is a mixologist extraordinaire! I had the Chiller Bee and it was awesome! Complete with edible marigolds. All the honey in the drinks and sold at the bar is Forrest Breese Organics. I am honored to be Beekeeper’s “Beekeeper”.

This is what bees do when you put a board over a 15 gallon nursery pot. Here the board flipped over showed the girls handy work. We got it just in time before they attached to the sides.

Here are some pictures of a special label in memorial of a great man, George Emerich. I only met George once. But his brother Brian called me last week and said George had passed. He graciously offered to give to me George's beehives, about 7 colonies. Some of George's bees had made honey early thanks to all that rain. George's farm was five acres of rare fruit, all mixed species, extremely bio diverse. The honey is truly unique and looks as dark as Guinness! We are humbled and honored to be given George's bees and their last harvest under his care. So we created a special memorial label. Rest In Peace George and I will do my best to keep your bees healthy and safe.

Just use your eggs for seed starting. Rinse the egg shells. Add seed starting mix. I used cococoir. Cut the top off the egg carton and put underneath. It helps keep it stable. The best thing to do is mist water with a pump sprayer.
