“Live, In-Person” Food Safety Training & Required Certification Classes
On Mondays and Thursdays!

DMV Region – Managers and supervisors from restaurant and foodservice establishments, and members of the general public, are invited to participate in “live, in-person” Professional Food Safety Training Classes leading to Food Protection Manager Certification. One-Day English Food Safety Exam Preparation Classes, followed immediately by administration of the Food Protection Certification Exam, are now being scheduled on Monday and Thursday of every week from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm at ORS Interactive, Inc. in Falls Church. Upcoming classes include Thursday, October 7; Thursday, October 14; Monday, October 18; and Thursday, October 21. A One-Day Spanish Food Safety Class, followed immediately by administration of the Certification Exam, is scheduled for Saturday, October 23. ORS Interactive, Inc. is located at 6066 Leesburg Pike, Suite 200B (near the Culmore Shopping Center), Falls Church, VA, 22041.

Information and registration for One-Day Spanish Food Safety Classes and Exams, as well as Online Food Safety Classes in English and Spanish, is also available on the website. Participation in all “live, in-person” classes is limited due to social distancing requirements and advance registration is imperative because classes fill up quickly.

The One-Day Class (6 hours of instruction and exam preparation / review with a short lunch break on your own) is designed to help restaurant and foodservice personnel prepare for a nationally accredited Food Protection Manager Certification Exam. Cost for the One-Day Class and administration of the Exam is only $130. For those interested, the ServSafe CourseBook is available for purchase prior to (additional shipping charges may apply), or on the day of the Class, for an additional fee of $55. A discount of 10% per person applies when 3 or more people from the same company/organization attend the same class. Discounts are also available for private groups of 10 or more. Private group classes can be taught in facilities at ORS Interactive, Inc. or on-site at restaurants, foodservice establishments, hotels or other facilities.

Health Code Regulations for Arlington County, Fairfax County, Alexandria, Falls Church and Fairfax City require that all restaurants and food service operations including those in schools, churches and parks are under the “immediate control” of an individual who is a Certified Food Safety / Food Protection Manager during all hours of operation. Failure to comply can result in immediate closure of the establishment by the local Health Department.

Computerized Food Protection Manager Certification Exams (which provide immediate test scores) are available on-demand in ORS Interactive’s proctored testing center. No advance registration is required. The first exam is available at 8:30 am and multiple testing slots are open throughout the day. The last exam of the day begins no later than 3:00 pm during the week, and 11:00 am on Saturday. It is not necessary to complete a Food Safety Class prior to taking a Food Safety Certification Exam but many people find this helpful in preparing for the Exam.
