Every year I think November will be quiet, and every year I am wrong about why.

The color is mostly down by then. The rows are bare. On paper it is the worst month of the season to sell.

What actually happens is that the tasting rooms empty out. You get the good table without asking. The person pouring has time to talk to you, because there are eleven people in the room instead of ninety. Nobody is rushing you toward the door so they can turn the seat.

October is the month people book. November is the month I would book.

Our public season runs Saturdays and Sundays through November, plus two December Saturdays: December 5 and December 12. In 2027 we run tours every month of the year, and those dates are open to book now.

Pumpkins down the length of the path, which is how you know it is the good part of the year.

Fleetwood Farm in late October. Guests walking up to the tasting room, color coming in behind the roofline, chairs out on the lawn for anyone who wants to sit in it.

It is a working farm with a polished room in the middle of it, and the walk in sets the tone for the whole stop.

This is the end of a private tour. Somebody organized it, chased everyone for their share, and worried about whether it would land. It landed.

More than four hundred five-star reviews across platforms, and the thing people write about is almost never the w**e. It is that the whole group got to be guests - including whoever booked it.

How a Sunday goes.

11:00 AM: pickup at West Falls Church Metro, or 11:55 AM in Leesburg.
12:20 PM: the first w**ery, with time for lunch.
2:40 PM: the second w**ery.
5:00 PM: back at the Metro.

Sunday Explorer is $79 for the ride and your host. Sunday Connoisseur is $139 and adds a tasting at both w**eries. Plus a booking fee. Lunch is not included. 21+.

Look closely at this row. The fruit is already gone.

By the time the leaves turn red like this, harvest is over. The grapes came off weeks ago and are sitting in tanks somewhere behind the tasting room. What is left on the wire is the vine spending the last of the season feeding its roots for next year.

So an October vineyard is not the picture people expect. It is quieter than that, and the work has moved indoors. Ask whoever is pouring how the harvest went - you are asking about something that finished a month ago, and they will have opinions.

You do not need to know any of this to enjoy a glass. It just makes the second one more interesting.

Sunday Funday is now booking.

Every Sunday from October 25, the bus picks you up at West Falls Church Metro at 11:00 AM or in Leesburg at 11:55 AM. We visit two Loudoun w**eries, with time for lunch at the first, and have you back by about 5:00 PM.

Sunday Explorer, $79: the ride and your host. Buy your own tastings.
Sunday Connoisseur, $139: everything in Explorer, plus a tasting at both w**eries.
Plus a booking fee. Lunch is not included. 21+.

Sundays are also the one day you can bring your own: up to 2 canned drinks per person on the bus, no coolers.

When the weather turns, this is the room you want.

Long table, timber beams, windows down one whole side looking out over the vines. W**e on ice, food on the table, and nobody watching the clock.

The vineyard is the postcard. The room is what makes a stop feel short.
