On August 28 of last year I reported to my job for the first day of the year. I was 3 days past my due date and had been anticipating the birth of my son. I sat in meetings al morning large and very uncomfortable. I ate lunch with my colleagues and started having contractions shortly after. I knew then that he wouldn’t be coming that second or even that day but I would be meeting my son very soon. That night I rested gave myself the energy I would need to endure active labor. The next morning at 9 am I woke, and I knew it was time. I moved slowly through the next 3 hours using everything I had learned to get us both ready to meet I bathed and breathed through every contraction all the while packing my bags and doing my make up … lashes included ! I had waited for this moment my whole life and when we met my son I was going to look good ! When we made it to the hospital I was 7cm dilated. I felt proud and calm and very ready to push. Plans and always just suggestions life doesn’t always work the way you think it will but that’s okay! Hours later and a successful emergency C-Section you were born I have spent the last year loving you and learning me. It is a journey I continue to explore daily one that’s full of anxiety and exhaustion but the most beautiful love I have ever known. One that fuels me each day to do better be better feel better for you and for all of us ! To my husband, you are my guiding ship my love and my companion you shelter protect and nurture me and we are so lucky to have you. I love you ❤️ one year later looks very different but my God am I blessed to live this life.
