Far Country Farm A small family farm located in Farwell, Michigan.

We raise ultra-rare BBS Vorwerk chickens, registered Toggenburg dairy goats, registered Belted Galloway, Hereford beef, and dairy cattle, all whilst practicing regenerative farming.

Happy Cows 🐄

Yes, we are still bale grazing, and will be throughout the year. Our soil needs a lot of building and coverage. Rotating between fresh grazing to bale grazing allows our pastures the rest they need to recover. It also allows baleage waste as the "trampling" coverage needed for retaining moisture during the summer heat. Slowly but surely, we are seeing improvements in our pastures.

Yesterday, we were able to complete another dry lot in our plot of pine trees. We are working constantly to build our soil and grazing capacity. In doing so, increasing rest-periods per pasture is vital. This was one of our solutions to utilize the land we have in the best way possible.

SOLD

Due to some life changes (expecting another baby in less than a month) we've decided to look for a new placement for our trio of registered Toggenburg. Both does are currently in milk, one being hand-milked daily, the other, will be weaning her kids.

Celestte (2021) is a seasoned milker and kidded four kids this March. She's been milked both with machine and by hand, and gives about a gallon of milk a day.

Mable (2024) is a first-time freshener and had two kids without any assistance in March. She has great maternal instincts, and was previously and successfully shown in 4-H.

Solar Flare (2024) is a proven sire, is very calm and easy going. Zero aggression and loves attention.

Closed herd. All will be UTD on CDT booster, deworming, copper bolus, and feet trim.

Also available: registered sibling bucklings born 3/3/26. Disbudded, UTD on CDT & BO-SE, weaned on hay and grain.
