We have enough chickens that I should be collecting substantially more eggs. I think it’s time to shuffle around the flocks and figure out who’s laying and who’s just hanging out rent free

Maybe I should add more proficient layers to increase our eggs collected per day. We did this a few years ago with sapphire gems and white leghorns. I’m just thinking out loud now, but I think that sounds like a good idea. I’m going to look into it tomorrow!

Well we got a new batch of meat birds! Our set up to start is a bit unconventional, but it’s working, and, dare I say it, this batch of birds is the most successful thus far. We are 51/50 (they gave us one extra) right now! 😁

Molting season seems to be upon us! Or maybe my leghorn is early to the party.

Where’s the craziest place you’ve found a bunch of eggs?

I’ve found them all across the yard at this point. We used to free range the chickens full time, and some youngsters figured out how to hop over the fence. They would lay in the front flower pots daily and then hop back into the back yard 😂

I love finding those hidden eggs! I wouldn’t want them to sit out there in the heat for another day or so 😬

The bedding looked just mountainy enough to be hiding one, so I tried my luck and won a prize 😂

Ive figured out the best way to find where the duck eggs are…

I just have to send our lab, Hyde, outside 🤦‍♀️😂

Today, he found 2 laid in the side yard about 7 feet apart, and he’s just casually walking back and forth between the 2 licking them 🤦‍♀️

“Hyyyyyyyyde!” He just looked at me like, “but Moooooom, I can’t have my treats? 😢…ok.” So, we’ll see what tomorrow brings hah
