Something we're taught from a young age is to listen. Often times this listen meaning also to obey. Listen to our parents, listen to our teachers, listen to authority, listen to society. I remember from my high school years learning (the hard way) what it means to hear versus listen. I was at an age where I was old enough to run the daily operations at my parents business. At this point dad had taught me just about everything on how to clean seed and I had learned a lot on my own as well. One day he was needed elsewhere and we were in the middle of cleaning seed and he said "do this and then this and after that do this" I was like "ok got it" and he left. Well guess what, I heard what he said but that age old adage of "in one ear and out the other" kicked in. It wasn't 5 minutes after he left I had to call and ask him what he instructed me. I didn't truly listen.

How many times in life are we like this with God? He speaks to us all the time; often in ways we don't expect or don't want Him to. Sometimes he thunders to us and sometimes he speaks softly. But the trick here is actually listening, actually obeying, actually taking His words to heart. I have never audibly heard God speak to me like I hear others say they have. I've come to the conclusion that I likely will never hear Him audibly because he knows that's too easy for me. He knows that I have to hear Him the hard way. He knows I have to work to get His message. And I'm grateful for it. Sometimes bitter about it; I'll plead, can you just tell me exactly what you want me to do?! Thankfully He knows better and doesn't listen to me.

Sometimes we just need to be still. This looks like so many different things in our life these days. There are way too many distractions from so many things that deserve our attention more.

Today, pick something to toss to the wayside so you can be still more and listen more. I promise it'll be worth it.

Sometimes the truth hurts. But often times it's exactly what we need to hear to make the necessary changes to live a bet...

There are so many times in life where I've found myself overwhelmed by the things I need and want to do; house work, paperwork, yard work, play time, family outings, the list goes on. Just the other day I found myself "behind" (whatever that truly means 🙃) and I just stopped and stood in the kitchen and looked around and started thanking God for it all.

Thank you for the large piles of laundry; we have plenty of clothes.
Thank you for all the dirty dishes; we eat well and have somewhere to eat.
Thank you for the dirty floors; life is lived well here.
Thank you for the paperwork; we have a business that provides us our means of living.
Thank you for the many projects there are to do outside; we have a property to care for and are able to do so.
Thank you for being overwhelmed; I have much to care for.

I could go on and on. Many times we find ourselves "burdened" by so much that we take for granted. All the things we might dread doing are the very things someone else is wishing for. Within moments of thanking God for the many things I had to do I felt calm and peace.

And sometimes we get way too wrapped up in doing some of these things. Of course we can't (and shouldn't) live in complete filth but there might be some places we could relax a bit in. There's a hard balance to find in life but with enough effort we can find it.

When we have a mind of thankfulness it drastically changes our perspective and our mood. Is this easy? Not always but it's definitely worth doing and worth trying to make a habit.

What's something mundane you're thankful for today that you often take for granted? Mine is laundry. It really has taught me a lot in so many different ways 😊

Eggshell color is all about the hen’s breed and genetics — nothing to do with what she eats or how healthy she is. Some breeds lay pure white eggs, others rich brown, and a few special ones give beautiful blue, green, or even pinkish tones.

The science is pretty neat. Brown eggs get their color from a pigment called protoporphyrin that’s applied late in the shell-forming process. Blue and green eggs (from breeds like Ameraucanas or Easter Eggers) actually get their color from biliverdin on the inside of the shell, so the tint shows all the way through.

Here’s the part that surprises most folks: no matter the color — white, brown, blue, or green — the taste, nutrition, and quality of the egg inside stay exactly the same. It’s just nature’s little variety show.

We are so excited to add the Azure Eggers to our flock next weekend! There's still time to speak for some before we go if you'd like to have any!

Often times we find ourselves prisoners in life. Whether that be quite literally in jail or in our own prison we have built; the material list endless. We think there's no way out, that we're doomed. We try and fix the situation to no avail. And that's the thing. We can't do it on our own; we need someone's help, we need someone to set us free. There's only one person that can do that. Jesus.

More specifically His blood. Just as God's people were set free by the power of the lambs blood in the accounts in Exodus, we are set free from sin and death by the blood of Jesus. All you have to do is accept Him. But it doesn't end there.

Even after you accept Jesus in your life, you still have to put the work in. God will make a way for your prayers to be answered or things to be changed in your life or whatever you need but you have to do the walking. And on that walk we will mess up, we're not perfect. But holding the hand of the One who is will help us tremendously.

Along our walk we will most likely begin to forget what God has done for us; just as they did in Exodus (seems a common thing with us humans) But that's one of the greatest things about God is that even when we forget, He is faithful; even when we are morons, he dresses us with His grace.

There are two words that most of us have a hard time comprehending that sums up God. Unconditional Love. We have a hard time grasping this because more than likely, every relationship we have ever had has been conditional to an extent. Likely even with our parents at some point. If you are blessed with a human in your life that loves you unconditionally, even that doesn't even come close to the unconditional love God has for us.

When we make mistakes, when we speak coarsely, when we're unkind, when we don't follow His instruction, when we're lost, when we're the worst child a parent could imagine...God still loves us unconditionally. He wants the best for us, He wants us to come home to Him, He wants us to love Him just a smidgeon of what He loves us (I say a smidgeon because I don't know that we are capable of the tremendous full love of God) He just wants us, no matter the shape we are in.

Come to God with whatever you have, He can and will handle it. And never forget what He's already done in your life. Remember on purpose, remember with someone else. Don't forget God because He will never forget you ❤️

Hey everyone! We just wanted to say how grateful we are for each and everyone of you and all your support! We hope you all enjoy seeing the information we provide and staying up to date with life on the farm.

In the last couple weeks I've had some friends ask about different things and they've made mention they haven't seen our posts come across their page. I know there's a sneaky algorithm to beat around every corner these days, so if you enjoy our page and it is your desire to do so, please be sure and like, comment or share this post and make sure you're following and favoriting our page.

I honestly despise making this sort of post and this will likely be the only time I ever make a post like this. But I just want to make sure that everyone that desires to see our page is getting to and the algorithm isn't playing against you and us.

And don't just do this for us! Do it on every page you want to see more of. I know Facebook will put random stuff across that you don't even want to see. So maybe today go and engage more on all the pages you'd like to see on your feed more often. It helps you see what you want to see and helps all the small businesses around that are trying to boost our communities!

Have a wonderful rest of your week! ❤️

🪺🐓AZURE EGGERS🐓🪺

We have the opportunity to buy a large quantity of chickens that lay beautiful blue eggs! We are getting some for ourselves, of course, but I wanted to extend the offer to anyone else that may be interested. They are 11 months old and the cost is $4.75/bird. They are in Licking and we will get them the 19th so they will be ready to pick up June 20 at our house in Fisk. If you’re interested just let me know how many you want!

I noticed something while camping this weekend; summer seemed to roll in quick! That's Missouri weather though! But the summer heat doesn’t have to keep us stuck inside. Getting outside still matters for our bodies and minds—it lifts mood, steadies energy, supports better sleep, and gives us that natural vitamin D and fresh air we need.

The key is choosing smart, enjoyable ways that beat the heat instead of fighting it:
• Go out early in the morning or after the sun starts to go down. A gentle walk around the yard or through a shaded neighborhood feels refreshing when the air is cooler.
• Find shade. Sit under a big tree with a book or computer, visit a local park with pavilions, or walk tree-lined trails where the canopy does the work for you.
• Bring water into it. Head to the river or lake, sit by a pond, fountain, or creek and just listen. Or set up a sprinkler in the yard and walk through it with the kids or grandkids or dogs—simple joy that cools you down while you move.
• Try porch time or backyard time. Light gardening in the shade, bird watching, or even eating a meal outside under an umbrella. It still counts and feels good.
Keep it short and pleasant. Ten to twenty minutes is plenty when it’s hot. No need to push.

But if you do want to push things a little, you could use the heat to your advantage and just sit there in the sauna God provided. We all know we don't sweat enough these days! Or go for a run in the forest. Like working out? Do it outside. But be smart and stay properly hydrated.

These little moments add up. They lower stress, clear your head, and remind your body it’s connected to the world around it.
This week, pick one easy way to step outside without getting miserable. Your body and spirit will thank you for the gentle reset. You don’t have to wait for perfect weather.

Carrots actually originated in the mountains of Afghanistan over 5,000 years ago. The earliest ones were purple, yellow, red, and white — the bright orange variety we know best today didn’t appear until the 1600s in the Netherlands. They were selectively bred there partly to honor the royal House of Orange. 🥕

Here’s something that surprises a lot of people: wild carrots are still around today, and they look almost nothing like the ones in our gardens. They’re skinny, woody, and white. It took centuries of careful growing and selection to turn them into the sweet, crunchy roots we pull from the soil.

Carrots store so well that you can leave them in the ground through winter in many climates and harvest them as needed — they actually get sweeter after a frost!

Medicinally, carrots have been valued for a very long time. They’re loaded with beta-carotene, which the body turns into vitamin A for eye health and strong immunity. Ancient healers also used them for digestion, skin health, and as a gentle remedy for respiratory issues.

Lord willing, I will get some carrots in the ground for a fall harvest. They're one I am super excited about because of their array of color once again!
