While we have all been shivering every time we look outside, I decided it was a good time to do some meal and food medicine planning. Every day we need certain nutrients, and I want to make sure I get them. I find that by choosing a few key foods most of my nutritional needs take care of themselves. I drink a tonic tea every day which keeps my hormones in balance and keeps my mood up in our short days. My tea recipe will change as spring approaches and again in the summer and fall. By choosing my highest priority healthy foods carefully, I can make sure my pantry is stocked with what I need both now and later. This also means I get to look at garden catalogs a lot and dream of my lovely summer garden.
