Growing up in small-town Wisconsin, I enjoyed the time I was able to spend in the kitchen with my mom baking. The smells, the laughs, the sometimes happy accidents and the joy her pies, cookies and banana bread brought when she shared it with friends and family hold special memories. I remember throwing the idea out there of bypassing college and opening a bakery when I graduated high school … tha
t went over um, well, as you can imagine. My love of baking was put on hold for a few years as other priorities captured my time and as I flexed to support my husband’s growing career that has taken us to a handful of states east of the Mississippi. The older I’ve gotten the more I’ve come to appreciate the simple joys and missed my time in the kitchen. When we moved to southwest Florida about 4 years ago I started carving out time here and there to try new recipes and challenge my skills, which is how I stumbled into royal icing cookies. The artist in me fell in love, and it stirred up all the wonderful memories of my youth. I felt like a kid again! I will spend hours painstakingly and meticulously mixing colors and decorating cookie after cookie as my schedule allows. What started out as gifts for friends and thank you’s for those who work tirelessly in our community through the holidays has blossomed into so much more. I truly put a piece of myself into each cookie, and hope you can taste the love and care that goes into making each one a work of art. When I’m not bouncing around the kitchen I enjoy spending time with my husband outdoors and exploring all the tastes, sights and sounds that Florida has to offer. I was born to create — through jewelry, crafts, photography, design and culinary art. Maybe mom’s push towards college wasn’t such a bad thing after all; my design background has helped me to elevate my skills and creativity across many mediums, including cookies. While still working as a graphic designer and balancing an e-commerce venture with my husband, my time is at a premium and I’m currently only doing limited release sales to ensure you’re receiving nothing but my best work.
