To our amazing Pop & Sip Boba community,
We wanted to take a moment to be transparent about our experience at the Weld County Fair.
Like many small businesses, we invested a significant amount of time, money, and preparation into this event. We purchased inventory, stocked fresh ingredients, paid vendor fees, prepared equipment, and dedicated five days away from our family and our regular work schedule because we were excited to be part of what was promoted as one of Colorado’s largest county fairs.
Unfortunately, our experience did not match those expectations.
Throughout much of the event, vendor attendance far exceeded customer attendance. While there were moments of activity, many hours were spent with very few fairgoers walking through the vendor area. In fact, many of our sales came from fellow vendors supporting one another rather than from attendees. Like many businesses, we ultimately lost money after accounting for inventory, vendor fees, payment processing fees, and operating expenses.
This post is not about placing blame or criticizing the hard work of the volunteers, 4-H families, exhibitors, or fair staff. We know countless people dedicate their time and energy to making the event happen, and we truly appreciate everyone who stopped by our trailer to support us.
We’re sharing our experience because we believe in being honest with our customers and with fellow small business owners. Events like these require a substantial financial commitment, and for many small businesses, a week like this can have a lasting impact.
Despite the challenges, we’re incredibly grateful for every single customer who chose Pop & Sip Boba, every vendor who came over to support us, and everyone who shared kind words throughout the week. Your support means more than you know.
If you’ve been thinking about stopping by Pop & Sip Boba at one of our upcoming events, we’d love to see you. Every purchase directly supports our family-owned business and helps us continue bringing fun drinks and memorable experiences to Northern Colorado.
Thank you for always showing up for us. We couldn’t do this without you.
