So we've got about twenty of these beautiful construction spools just waiting for people to upcycle them!
For $20 you can have one to turn into anything you want, AND if you really want to help the garden project at Summit, once you've upcycled it, bring it back to auction!
I saw a great looking chicken coop made from one of these, as well as many other cool things, so check out Pinterest and your garage and claim one of these-- your $20 will grow our garden for 2017!
Contact Allison Wheaton or me here, to get yours!

How ridiculously lucky am I to garden at a beautiful farm, with strong women! Passersby joined the flower pounding party and our four-legged friends Ray, Tuff and Jackson shared the love, too!

In hort therapy today we talked about the health benefits of getting outside and putting your hands in the dirt. Do you know about mycobacterium vaccae?
That's the good stuff in soil that makes us happy. Dig that!

Today in hort therapy we planted dozens and dozens of amazing, healthy plants -- courtesy of Beside Still Waters Greenhouse.
We dug deep and got everything in the ground right before equine therapy started, and the day was an all around success! Thank you to everyone who pitched in; please come to the garden any time!

Horticultural therapy today included helping plant a butterfly garden at Salomon Farm.
These hands belong to a woman who said that this is the best therapy she's gotten since leaving jail.
How lucky am I to be part of that?!

Today is the first day of the season with the RH ladies.
It's a time of faith in the garden, in the seed, in the soil and in the hands that water it.
I'm looking forward to watching all the miracles!

10/12/2015

This weekend we attended a service for Na Gar Myint, who worked with us at the Slataper Street farm, CKP and Autumn Woods.
The service was delivered in Mon, and led by thirteen Buddhist monks.
At one point someone arose from his knees and knocked on the casket, and the room began a call and response with the monks.
Though we did not know the words and chants, we understood that the group was guiding Na Gar across, from this life to his next.
It was a beautiful kindness one young man gifted us with, when he came to sit beside us and whisper the things happening.

We were busy and already emotionally spent that day: a birthday, a fundraiser, a new home, the anniversary of another death. But sitting among these tender people, we closed our eyes and let the chanting carry us for a while. We watched many offerings be blessed by the monks, listened as the gong rung out, and were deeply comforted by the bare feet, open hands and gentle embrace this community let us witness, in their own time of loss.

We are truly blessed to have know Na Gar, and are ever grateful for what he brought to our lives. Peace everlasting, our dear friend.

This Friday! It's the official opening day of our farm and we will be planting, w**ding, building and singing!

If you would like to help, here's what we could really use:
folks to help move mulch, w**d, and plant seedlings;
brightly colored outdoor paint (bring us your leftovers!)
river rocks, stepping stones or bricks for paths and labeling plants;
paint brushes, weather sealant, birdhouses.

We will be at the farm, from 9:30am until 6pm, and hope to see YOU there!
My kids really miss your watercress. They asked for it this weekend. Then they wanted to know when they could get it.
