It’s an excellent time to start treating your fuel with the western states already introducing #1 or kerosene to the fuel.
The Lubricity in kerosene from the rack is supposed to be equivalent to diesel #2. However the last lab result I received was over a 700 wear scar fuel.
The results after treating with 5007 power Klenz came in at 300 wear scar.
With #2 diesel it brought a 600 wear scar fuel down to a 215 using the ASTM D6079 HFRR evaluation. What is in your tank?
Understanding where baseline fuel is regarding Lubricity evaluations is very important, when deciding which enhancement would be beneficial for todays diesel fuel.
The most common evaluation is the HFRR test for lubricity. Interesting that this test was designed when injectors only fired once at TDC. Now injectors can fire 7 times or more per stroke. That requires additional Lubricity for the injectors alone. Also consider high pressure potentially above 36,000 psi in the fuel system.
The samples pulled for these results are an average of 5 actual fuel stops.
The average came back at a 610 micrometer wear scar according to the ASTM D6079 evaluation. Something worth mentioning is the Engine manufacturers additional performance requirements states pump fuel should be treated down to a 460 micrometer wear scar.

I just found this YouTube video from Ford engineers. Some of the Diesel oils out there don’t meet the specifications to protect a turbo diesel engine. Even though they meet the API service classification. They mention Lack of phosphorus in the oil. Keep in mind ultragard is a substitute for zinc and phosphorus.

An outage at the largest US Midwest refinery is raising wholesale fuel prices regionally just as the agricultural sector gears up for its busiest time of year.
BP PLC shut two crude units at its 435,000 barrel-a-day Whiting, Indiana, refinery after a fire Wednesday, Wood Mackenzie’s Genscape said. The fire occurred in the power house and caused a loss of cooling water, which could lead to damaged equipment, according to a person familiar with operations.
A prolonged shutdown of the plant, which supplies gasoline, diesel and jet fuel to most of the region’s major distribution centers, could tighten fuel markets just as farmers in the nation’s breadbasket prepare for harvesting season. Diesel demand typically starts to rise this time of year because it’s used for heating and to fuel big machinery.
Mid-continent distillate inventories, which include diesel, are at their lowest seasonally since 2006, and gasoline stockpiles are the least since 2014, according to government data. Diesel for prompt delivery traded at a 5-cent per gallon premium over early September deliveries, according to a broker. Gasoline delivered into Michigan jumped 10 cents a gallon on news of the outage as well.
A lengthy shutdown could divert crude to the storage depot in Cushing, Oklahoma. Inventories at the hub, the delivery point for benchmark US crude futures, have already risen for eight straight weeks and the prospect of further builds are weighing on futures and physical crude markets.
In the oil futures market, the US crude futures prompt spread contracted sharply, with the gap between the October and November contracts narrowing by 10 cents. WTI’s discount to international benchmark Brent crude weakened for the same reason, traders said.
The units shut include Pipestill 12, the region’s largest crude unit with a capacity of 255,000 barrels-a-day, and the 70,000 barrel-a-day Pipestill 11A.
Pipestill 12 processes as much as 90% heavy Canadian crude that’s piped in from the oil sands. If the fire damage is confined to a control panel, restart of the units could begin as soon as this weekend with a return to normal operations as soon as early next week. The fact that a 102,000 barrel-per-day coker, which supports Pipestill 12, is still running may indicate a short downtime is expected

These two samples speak for themselves first taken end of April and second one was taken today. This farmer was having major issues with equipment losing power and having to shutdown almost every 10- 20 acres when taken harvest off last year.

We narrowed it down to either a pickup tube was cracked since my fuel level was around 1/4 tank.
Or my HFCM was failing. Fortunately it only cost $51.00 to put 10 gallons of diesel in the truck primed a few times it had a rough idle for about 2 minutes but now good to go!! Thanks for all the suggestions guys!

None of us are exempt from poor fuel quality. Lately my truck has been acting strange I’m getting air in my upper fuel filter housing. The pickup line has a crack (I think lol) I went to the last place I purchased fuel, put 5 gallons in a can in order to raise my fuel level above the potential crack in the line.
When I got home I looked in the can before I put it in my truck. Good thing I did. Here is the sample I poured into a jar. Here is another pic of treated with 5007 power Klenz. What’s protecting your equipment?
