CH (pending) One Hot Topic 92EX- doing her thing this morning

Another Hello daughter, Topic is a four year old that has caught my eye since day one. I was somewhat disappointed this year when all she had was a single doe kid. Thankful though, that it hasn’t affected her production too terribly much.

Her two year old first freshener daughter Hot as Elle appraised 89 this spring. CH(pending) Riley, her younger full genetic sister, appraised 91.

I have a very exciting boyfriend planned for her this fall. Buck reservations are open 😉

Headed south one finished champion heavy from the Sunflower Doe Down this weekend.

A huge thank you to the “Varner girls” for such a well run show, and an even bigger thank you to our friends who helped wrangle our does for the breed classes.

Under ring 1 with Judge Russel Sorbo 3 year old Tule Creek Dream Riley became a permanent champion going grand and best of breed, with her herdmate Nubilop Acres Harley Quinn grabbing reserve.

Under Ring 2 with Judge Kris Fraley 2 year old Tule Creek VC Derecho earned her second champion leg going grand, however lost to her herdmate CH Tule Creek One Hot Topic who gathered the Best of Breed.

More importantly, we made the long trek to Kansas to see our northern goat family. It was fantastic catching up with everyone and cheering as our dear friends showcased their does. The Midwest sure brings the competition and the herds are beautiful. We are thankful to belong, even with the fun hearted razzing we get for moving back home to Texas. Y’all don’t know how much our hearts needed the late nights and early mornings, and the love showered on us this weekend ♥️♥️

A big thank you to the Hill Country 2 Step show this weekend in Comfort, TX. We appreciate the show committee and judges for all of their hard work.

Our first visit here and the drive was absolutely gorgeous.

We had a very special guest in attendance this weekend helping Grandpa and Grandma wrangle the herd.

As some of you are aware, our daughter Casandra Ann Bartram Guzman home burned to the ground around 3 am this morning.

They are safe. Thank God they are safe. And, as I told her, I know God shook her awake. She opened her eyes and saw the flames outside their bedroom window, and if you understand their home their bedroom and our 3 year old grandson Ozzy's bedroom are in the front of the house on either side of the porch. I was in tears thinking about how she and Fino had to run through their living room to get over to the other side and grab Ozzy.

I am just so thankful they are ok.

Their home was a rental, so there isn't anything that can be done on that end. However, they have lost everything and are too humble to ask for any help as they try to deal with this. They are just asking for prayers. They were able to get out with just their PJs on but got out. The fire continues to recatch, and THANK YOU so much to the mutliple fire departments that are out there fighting it.

If you feel led to help, it would mean so much to our family. Our home community of Tulia is rallying and it means so much.

Her venmo is if you feel so led to help them in that manner. Please reach out to her to make sure it’s the correct Venmo. She’s been made aware that there are already people setting up fake Venmo accounts.

Thank you for lifting them up in your prayers and love. My worst fear is fire, and to know that my daughter and her family could have had a much different outcome this morning has shook me to my core.

It’s Sire Saturday!

Our “senior” herd sire that we are spotlighting this morning is none other than TC NHM High Standards. Featured here winning 3x BOB and 1X reserve last month as not quite a yearling during the Milk & Honey Pot at Brownwood, Texas.

High is an exciting young prospect for us, outcrossing our Hot line with the hopes of achieving more flatness of bone and angularity while adding a bit more size. After his appraisal this week, it appears we are getting what we asked for.

High just eeked in and was able to be evaluated exactly on his first birthday, so at age 1-00 this young guy scored the lowest in our herd with a VVG 84.

Whew! We are recovering from our linear appraisal yesterday, and I am walking away with a head full of knowledge and heart full of humble. We made a lot of hard choices this spring, and I am very excited with the direction our young group of does is headed.

There is so much valuable information to take in during appraisal, and we learn something each time with having an objective evaluation of the herd. I am a numbers girl, and seeing those numbers and hearing the reasoning behind it, helps me to see the whole goat and our strengths and weaknesses. And, what we need to work on!

We were fortunate to receive some fantastic scores, which makes all the hard work (and sometimes tears) worth it. The herd is quite young again, with most of my milking string two years old and younger and first fresheners. I was in tears last night while sitting in the barn taking it all in, and very proud of how hard these girls are working for us.

A HUGE thank you to ADGA for this program and especially the appraisers that travel across the US, and even more so to Danielle Boyd of MerryTale Farm for inviting us to her farm and appraisal session. It takes a lot of effort and time to put this together, and we appreciate it more than she knows. Also, thank you to Ryleigh and Jayden for grabbing the girls for a photoshoot while we were appraising.

I'll post the scores and pictures later, but I am very pleased to hint that half of the mature does here at Tule Creek now carry a score of 90 or above
