Mottshaw's Farm

Mottshaw's Farm Mottshaw Farm is where we live and grow. Our focus is vegetables, fruit, berries and honeybees... an edible landscape. “I love to cook.

I am interested in growing some of my own food but I don’t know where to start.”

“Food is so expensive. I want to grow my own vegetables to save some money.”

“I enjoy fresh vegetables, especially tomatoes. I wish I could grow my own to enjoy whenever I wanted.”

“I really want to grow vegetables, but I don’t have the space.”

“I want to garden, but I really don’t have the time to learn.”

“I’ve

never had a garden. It would be cool to start one.”

If any of these statements sounds like something you would say, then this book was written for you. Our approach is a simple one – to give you the basic information you need to start growing your own vegetables in a way that is easy to understand. We won’t bother you with all the technical stuff or “extra” information. We will give you what you really need so you can spend more of your time where you want to be – growing your own food. Throughout this ebook, we give basic concepts needed so you can start growing your own food – fast. We’re sure you will have questions. That’s why we created a website as a companion to this ebook. Our hope is that the website will connect people, like you, throughout the United States and beyond, talking and learning from one another about growing your own food. Mottshaw Farm is a sustainable farm where we grow vegetables, fruit, berries and also maintain a flock of chickens and a honeybee apiary.

We finished the first round of soap making. Here you see (from the bottom up): bees wax & honey, pine, and pine tar. The creamy orange will stay in the mold for a day or so before it’s taken out of the mold and cut.

Ingredients include our own bees wax and honey as well as organic oils and essential oils.

It's maple sugaring season. We tapped several trees about a month ago. We finished making our first batch of maple syrup yesterday, 4 pints. And, it's delicious! We're hoping that the warmer weather doesn't rush the season along too much.
