Have you ever noticed that when you buy eggs from #localfarms. the yolks are just a bit brighter than regular supermarket eggs? Have you also noticed that when you buy #locallyraisedeggs, the shells are less likely to disintegrate into dust in your bowl? It's #NationalEggDay!

No matter whether you favor chicken, duck, or quail eggs, you can buy your eggs from #localfarms, so you can enjoy cooking and remember how eggs tasted when you were young. Drop by your local farm stand or small market to pick some up today!

One of my friends in my network owns First Class and Jessyka is often the one at my house taking good care of all the animals, especially my older temper mental dog.

We’d like to honor, not only a great professional but also a friend that today is celebrating one year with us at First Class Cleaning, providing extremely high quality service.
Thank you Jessyka for all you do at First Class Cleaning.🥳🥰

This is our second time hatching Welsh Harlequins. Last June we hatched 9 girls with eggs from a farm in CT. This time our eggs came from Duck Hollow—-a high quality line of ducks! So far we have 3 new girls, hoping the rest are drakes!

Welsh Harlequins can be fairly accurately sexed within the first 48 hours of hatching. Females have a pink bill and males have a brown. After the first day the girls’ bills will turn brown and they’ll be almost indistinguishable until their adult feathers come in.

Mrs Peacock laid another black egg! As the season progresses, her eggs will become less black and more grey-green (the bloom will still be there, just not as obvious).

Cayuga eggs are actually greenish and the black coloring (bloom) is deposited on the outside of the egg right before it’s laid. All eggs have bloom, a coating that seals the pores of the shell, reduces loss of moisture, and protects the egg from bacteria.

Bloom is why eggs can last much longer on your counter than in the fridge. Once you wash an egg, it must be refrigerated and has a shorter time frame for eating.

Fun fact: grocery store eggs can be 2-4 months old before they hit the shelves. The older the egg, the less nutritious they are.
