It’s that time of year again!

We are taking beef orders for December, whole, half and quarter shares available!

Why are we taking orders now for beef that won’t be ready until December? Farming is all about logistics. We need to put cattle into the home pens to finish feeding out, and we need to know how many to bring home from the pasture. We also have to schedule processing dates months ahead of time.

What does that mean for you?
By placing an order you are reserving a whole, half, or quarter share of high quality, farm raised, grass-fed, grain finished beef. You will need to make a deposit to reserve your share, with the remaining balance due at time of processing. Our beef is custom butchered by The Cutting Barn in Mason, New Hampshire and can be picked up at our farm in Francestown, NH. You will be responsible for processing costs, paid directly to The Cutting Barn prior to picking up your share of beef.

Pricing is based on ā€œhanging weight,ā€ which means the steer has been eviscerated, skinned and ready to be cut into steaks, roast, etc. Whole shares will hang around 6-800 pounds, half shares will hang around 3-400 pounds, and quarter shares will hang around 150-200 pounds. When you get your beef back you will notice the actual weight of the beef your receive back is a bit lighter then the hanging weight. This is due to the ā€œwasteā€ from the processing (bones, excess fat, etc.), which you can also request to keep. A whole share of beef is ideal for a larger family, half shares are great for 3-4 people, and quarter shares are wonderful for 2 people.

Please see our price list for more information, and reach out at any time if you have questions!

This was a big week for Pete! First and second rides under his belt! First ride was a little rough but we ended on a good note. Second ride he proved again what a rock star he is. By the end we were trotting around the round pen both directions, he’s direct reining left and right, and has a good handle on stopping. Won’t be long until we’re ready to put him to work on the ranch to get some real world experience!

Pistol Pete has been here for a week, after a few days of rest from his trip to NH we got to work. This is the fourth training session. The first three were all ground work, getting him to learn to move his body and respond to pressure. This evening after he has shown a lot of try and willingness to learn we graduated to a saddle. Lots of ground work to get him comfortable and ready for his first ride this week if he continues to progress at this pace!

He’s going to make a solid horse, someone will be lucky to have him!
