The last of the strawberries are available in the farm shed.
And, the first of the fresh peaches are available.

Strawberry Jubilee Festival today! The Farmers Market is full to the brim with strawberries, other foods- fruits and vegetables, craft vendors galore! Live music! We have a full house!

Adding oil to a wooden spoon

One of the last steps in making a wooden spoon is adding a food safe finish. We prefer a cutting board oil made by the walrus oil company.

I’m using an inflatable ball on my drill press to smooth the bowl of a spoon.

No talk Tuesday . This is step 3 in the sanding process. Coarse , medium ,fine,wet the spoon to raise the grain then after it dries very fine paper.

Learning to use a new tool. I picked this tool up off Etsy from a maker in Ukraine. I am hoping that it allows me to make my wooden spoons a little more efficiently.

No talk Tuesday. In this video, I am starting the sanding process on a batch of spoons. This is the first of four sanding steps.

This was intended to be a no talk Tuesday video, and then I realized I had music playing in the shop. The tool I’m using is a stock knife. As you can see, it makes short work of end grain.
