Bees dance to communicate.

They have distinct dance patterns to relay messages to other bees about resource locations, needs, plans, or danger.

This particular dance you see in the video is their defense “shimmer.” It is meant to disorient and ward off potential hive robbers… which is exactly what we are to them.

The girls (yep, all worker bees are female) were in a frenzy due to it being late in the evening and extremely hot and humid.

It’s better to work bees during midday when most workers are out of the hive hunting pollen or water.

Making room for honey 🍯🌼
Caleb is adding boxes (we call them “supers”) full of wax comb frames to the tops of the beehives. The honeybees will store their honey in these new boxes. At the end of the season, Caleb will take these supers off the hives and harvest the honey.

I feel it’s important to note that we don’t drink the milk from the dirty buckets 🤣 We have way too much milk, so some goes to the other animals.
