Elderberry harvesting has begun. Some of the biggest heads of berries we have seen in years. The berries are large and full.

Reach out today if interested. They will be sold in 1 cup portions (frozen to lock in the nutrients).

Elderberry season is quickly approaching, and what better way to boost your immunity than with Elderberry syrup! Not only do elderberries have medicinal properties, but they're pretty good in a cocktail, too! Year after year, our bushes provide a bountiful harvest, and this year looks promising!

We have suffered two bad predator attacks this year, each time cutting our flock in half. Our flock traditionally free ranges, and the coop in the picture gets pushed to a slightly new location each day.

Not an easy decision, but we decided to build a run for the remaining flock, and hope we either catch the predator(s), or they move on. We make sure to walk the perimeter each morning and night for dig marks. The ladies so far are enjoying it and don't look nearly as stressed as before. Sometimes on the HordStead we have to make decisions to keep the flock safe, even if it isn't what we would ideally prefer!
