We have a new champion in the herd! Cayenne took grand in both rings today at the Fresno Fair. She topped her wins off with a Best In Show win under Sarah Hazeltine too!

This doe is pretty exciting! Cayenne had a slow start to the year after delivering a big set of triplets, but she’s finally coming into her own this lactation. Definitely a favorite!

It’s hard to believe Chirp is already a 5 year old! She’s matured slowly but continues to hold up well and get a little deeper bodied each year. After 5 years of waiting she finally gave us a doe kid to keep this spring, so we are looking forward to seeing what the future holds for the next generation of this line.

Here’s one of Chirp’s maternal sisters, Jabber. We brought her sire, Tall-Tail’s Flint Stone, in a few years back after seeing his dam as a 10 year old still looking youthful, highly productive and impressive in frame. As an added bonus she was sired by the last registered Oberhasli from the Clovertop herd. Flint Stone himself was sired by the 2018 Spotlight Sale buck, Haycreeks Sandman Flint, so using him created some fun linebreeding opportunities on California Special Kane. Jabber is a result of some of that Kane linebreeding and has not disappointed!

It’s been 16 years since we first brought California Special Kane home from UC Davis. Since then he’s become one of the most influential sires we’ve used and can be found in most of the pedigrees of our Oberhasli herd today. We are really grateful that AI allows us to continue using him all these years later! Yikes is a first freshening two year old who has been milking since May of 2024 and shows us the same style and socked on mammary that we’ve come to expect from the Kane daughters.
