So due to most of my hens going broody this past summer I really need to downsize my BYM flock. I have everything from chicks to adults. Standard size and bantams even mixes that are in between sizes. Message for more info.

Well the dog found a skunk last night. So today is rewashing the dog because she still has some stench to her and deep cleaning and airing out the house because Wow does that smell cling and linger.

A whole summer off of posting was lovely. Unfortunately I broke my camera so no pictures but, I have had the broodiest year ever here. Laverne, Hedge, and Yeti are weaning their clutches, Yeti and Laverne have moved back into the nest boxes like they are broody again. Pumpkin is broody. Face has 3 babies that have hatched with more to come and Roughnut is expecting hers to hatch any time now. Lacy is roaming about with 9 babies. Of course I found several hidden nests this summer that started developing even with nobody sitting because it was +100 most of the summer so those eggs all went under some broodies which is why they get so many babies instead of 3-5. On a happy note I downsized my flock by 20 cockerals. I have made some choices on birds going forward so I am hoping to have a good flock number going into fall and winter.

Grinch went broody 2 days ago. So Tuffnut and Grinch are on eggs and I have 5 Moms on the ground with chicks. Debating if I should also load the incubator. My coffee pot went out the other day so I got a replacement yesterday. Real coffee this morning after 2 days of instant. It's a good day!

Nothing wakes you up faster then noticing a brown recluse crawling on your arm. At least I didn't scream, just brushed it off and squished it.

So I took a few days off social media. Good news is that Yeti decided being broody again was not in the cards. Better news is that Tuffnut decided she should try being broody. Laverne and Yeti have both kicked their chicks to the curb at around 4 weeks except at night when they are allowed to cuddle. But the chicks are doing great during the day without Mom and the temperature is warm enough that they are fine.

Really hating Fire season right now. Praying for everyone who has a fire close to them. After the scare we had 2 years ago where our entire town was surrounded with no way out to escape I am much more cautious when I see those smoke plumes in the sky. Right now there are several plumes visible and that is not a comfort.

Well Yeti weaned her chick, layed 1 egg, and is now camping in the nest box broody again. She just hatched her last clutch exactly 1 month ago. So now I have to decide if I will give her eggs or break her.
