Butea here.

Butea is a small, home-based cookie bakery in Kentlands, Gaithersburg — built around one simple idea:
tea and butter can belong in the same story.

Every week, cookies are baked in small batches using real butter and carefully selected ingredients. The flavors are inspired by tea — matcha, oolong, hojicha, and other subtle profiles that pair beautifully with a quiet cup in the afternoon.

No artificial colors.
No added dyes.
What you see is the natural color of tea and cocoa.

All cookies are made to order and baked fresh for local pickup.
Each box includes 12 cookies, with up to 3 flavors chosen from the weekly menu.

Beyond weekly boxes, Butea also offers custom event cookies for:
• Corporate gatherings
• Book clubs
• Birthday celebrations
• Small community events

Event orders require at least two weeks’ advance notice to allow time for planning and preparation.

Butea began as a personal project alongside a full-time career, and it continues to grow slowly and intentionally — one batch at a time.

Rich semi-sweet chocolate folded into buttery dough,
balanced with naturally sweet raisins.
Soft in the center, lightly crisp on the edges.

No shortcuts.
Just the natural colors and flavors of real ingredients.

When I develop a recipe, I always ask myself —
is this something I would feel good serving to my child?
If the answer isn’t yes, it doesn’t become a Butea cookie.

A little note about Butea

When I choose ingredients for Butea, I always ask myself one question first:
“Would I feel comfortable letting my 4-year-old son eat this?”

He’s still too young for coffee or tea, so those flavors are for adults.
But for everything else, I choose ingredients the same way I would for him — carefully, simply, and thoughtfully.

Butea cookies contain no added food coloring.
The colors you see come from the ingredients themselves — cocoa, nuts, grains, fruit — just the way food naturally looks.

Small batch, homemade, and made with care.
That’s always been the heart of Butea.
