The heat wave this week has been a doozy (and it’s only Tuesday evening!!) but quiet nights remind us that while in the moment some things seem like a struggle, there is still beauty in it all.

Tonight’s full moon shining bright and luminous. Casting perfect outlines of our cow herd as they rest peaceful and content in the pasture. A welcome reprieve from the day’s scorching sun.

Fireflies drifting through the stillness of the night, as if they are tiny stars among the grass dancing to and fro.

The breeze carrying sounds of crickets singing and coyotes calling across the river. The darkness holding those conversations as the rest of the world drifts off to sleep. And we too shall rest and prepare to take it all in again tomorrow - come what may.

Our little showman did his first show today! Thanks Postville Big four fair for having a pee-wee show for these littles to show off their hard work.

Parker and Izabelle were a great team in the ring - they won the “best pair” award! The win was celebrated with ice cream.

Just a boy and his pup 🐶. They were “looking for stuff” with those binoculars.

We ❤️ getting updated on how our leased heifers do for their new showmans!

Katie took Vicky and Cheyenne to the IA-MN youth dairy show in Sibley, IA this weekend to strut their stuff.

Vicky was 4th in her fall calf Holstein class and Cheyenne took home the JC banner for Milking Shorthorns!

Way to go, Katie! Keep up the great work!

Well that’s a new pattern of roan for us! She’s giving Phantom of the Opera vibes with that mask 🎭

Cuteness alert!
Show some love for little calf I call “HotSpot”. He has a tail that is half white to go with the patch on his head.
Jersey babies will always be my favorite.

I am so excited to watch these pairs all show season!
This trio of Femrite sisters put in the work and effort non-stop, and that kind of determination will always make me so proud and grateful they choose to lease heifers from us.

Good luck this show season girls; Krispie, Audi and Quote are in excellent hands 💜
(Also can I just say how much I love a good wash bibs color coordination photo 🤩)

It feels like spring may have hit the brakes like it’s just seen a state trouper, but show season prep has just begun!

We have added another set of youth for the other end of the halter, Katie and Lexi. The girls set their sights on a red and white Holstein fall calf, named Tricky Vicky and a roan summer yearling shortie, named Cheyenne.

These two are just getting started with Katie and Lexi and we are looking forward to hearing about all the fun these pairs will have.

Good luck this season girls and heifers!
