Life has a way of bringing certain things back to you when the timing is right.
My herd lines all trace back to Old Mountain Farm Karenna — one of my best goats, and the one who made me fall in love with showing dairy goats. She was the foundation of so much I loved about raising and working with these animals.
When I made the decision to take a break from the animals to focus on nursing school, I stepped away knowing that part of my heart would always belong to them. Almond Joy and her neice, Snickers, were two does from those same lines, and they went on to a wonderful home where they’ve been loved and cared for deeply.
Now, as I begin this next chapter on my own, Almond Joy and Snickers are coming back home. It’s hard to describe what that means — it feels like a piece of my past and my passion returning to where it all began.
This spring, they’ll come home to help me start fresh at Hardwood Haven Homestead — the next chapter of the same dream, built on the same love, the same heart, and the same foundation that started it all.
I’m endlessly grateful to UP Pride Nigerian Dwarfs for the care and trust they’ve shown these girls, and for giving me the chance to bring them home.
Follow along at Hardwood Haven Homestead as this next story begins to unfold.
