Here are a few photos so you all can see what’s new on the farm! We also just posted 3 dozen chicken eggs and 1 dozen guinea eggs on our website, https://vanengelfriesianfarm.square.site

We recently hatched 13 guinea keets and 5 chicks, and one of our Ameracaunas hatched two chicks of her own! With all these babies, we bought a commercial brooder so we can raise even more young birds safely and efficiently.

Our turkeys are three and a half months old and they are getting very large! We are hoping to offer turkey eggs in a few months and a select number of Thanksgiving turkeys.

Our beehives are also doing great, and we are looking forward to harvesting honey from them for the first time. Our fig trees are also doing well and we will have figs available soon.

As some of you know, I’m (Joanna) currently away doing a mission with my Army unit and Curtis is taking care of all the farm duties. I will get to come home and visit in a few weeks and I’m excited to see how much everything has grown!

I hope all of you local to Austin/Georgetown are safe and dry today! We had an eventful night, lost a tree and part of the road outside the farm. We have some fence damage and miss Emke decided to go on a field trip to the neighbor’s farm! We will be working hard to get the fences repaired and the downed tree cut up.

We are sold out of eggs through the rest of this week, but will be putting more on the website next Monday or Tuesday. Stay dry this weekend!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms on the farm this weekend - the hens, Margriet, Marina, and me!

I (Joanna) got to come home this weekend and I finally got to meet some of our sweet customers who have been buying eggs from us for months! I chat with them online all the time, but Curtis has been making the deliveries by himself until this weekend.

Then I got some time with the horses to get everyone brushed and looking good! They appreciated the one on one time with their human mama.

We did a lot of work stripping both chicken coops and getting them fresh bedding and cleaning up the chickens’ fans so they can stay cool this summer.

I’m not looking forward to going back to work on Monday, but I’m so lucky to have the chance to come home for Mother’s Day ❤️❤️

Hey there! Thanks for stopping by. My name is Joanna Van Engel and together with my husband Curtis, we own Van Engel Friesian Farm. We breed and raise purebred KFPS registered Friesian horses near Georgetown, TX. When we’re not busy riding, we raise chickens, bees, and anything else you can imagine belonging on a farm.

Follow along with us while I share about our horses, chickens, and the realities of farm life. I’ll also make sure to update when we have eggs, honey, and fresh produce available.
