The customers, the repeat offenders, the people who came just to say hi, hear my story, clients who came for just one week, the pony finals moms, the hunters, the jumpers, the eventing community, my dressage queens, and so many more.
We spent the last 7 weeks at the Kentucky Horse Park. We cried, we laughed, we drank tons of sugar and way too much energy.
You guys showed up, you supported me, you laughed with me, some of you cried with me, faught bee swarms with me, made me feel seen, heard, important in my own way.
We hit a record high on sales in just 4 months and you all had comments like:
π΅"Youre better than swig" - from a Utah mom
π΅"Brynn, you took a big swing and you didnt miss" -one of my first sales supporters
π΅"Woman need to support other woman in business" -a friend
π΅"think of just how far you came" -another friend
"Were so proud of you" and so much more.
For those of you that don't know me, I broke my life down to the worst parts of myself...at rock bottom.
My dad was diagnosed with 2 cancers summer of 2024, I was getting married in October 2024, I got married, my competiton horse died unexpectedly and what felt like part of my professional eventing career died with him and 5 weeks later, my dad died.
I was navigating marriage and had a job I loved, that saw the worst parts of me, but couldnt seem to support me through the worst of me. I was over 200 lbs and I had 2 horses try to die in 2 days that February 2025, the absolute breaking point for me. I laid down in the back yard in a snow storm and didn't think I would get back up.
I held onto my job of 4 years riding hundreds of rehab horses longer than I should have.
I was told I was a bi***er. I was too emotional. I was not enough. I didnt fit the picture.
I broke myself down to the worst parts of myself. I went to a doctor, I worked on myself, I lost 48 lbs, and I took my last paycheck and bought syrup in November of 2025.
Rainie Taubman and I tested random drinks in my kitchen. We spit stuff out. We tried again. 1 drink became 2 and 2 became 30. We started in a 10x10 tent. Our first event we sold 90, our second we sold 3. She supported my chaos from the beginning. My husband Jacob Roy West built the trailer out for me, sleeping in a hammock at work most nights.
I cried. I begged. I pleaded with a God that I felt like didnt hear me....until he did. He brought me you all. The fans, the customers, the dirty bits dogs, the riders, the tiktokers.
And so became Dirty Bits Soda Co.
I broke, but I also built. Don't even let someone tell you you're too much. Don't ever think you cant rebuild from your worst self, your darkest parts. The right people will support your chaos and support you and thats exactly what you all did. I'm grateful for you all and i'm grateful for this journey.
"I make no apologies, because.....THIS IS ME."
Love, laughter, and tons of dirty sodas later,
Brynn West
