Thank you to everyone who came out to look and purchase a Goates goat this weekend. It was such a wonderful time getting to meet so many wonderful showman and families! We can't wait to see the success each of you have in the future.

We spend a lot of time thinking about feed, supplements, and genetics…

But environment plays a bigger role than most people realize.

We talk about behavior like it’s something an animal just has.
Good one. Bad one. Hard to handle. Easy to show.

But step back for a second... That animal hasn’t made a single decision about how it lives.

It didn’t choose its pen.
Its routine.
How much pressure it’s under.

That all came from somewhere.

So when one isn’t handling right, acting right, or just seems off… it’s worth looking at the setup before anything else.

Are they comfortable?
Is their pen clean and dry?
Are they getting pushed too hard — or not enough?
Is their routine consistent?

All of that adds up.

Because you can’t separate behavior from environment. You’re looking at a product of what they live in every day.

Before you start changing a bunch of things in the feed pan, take a look around the pen first.

That’s usually where the answer starts.
