Who says w**e pairings have to be fancy?

Sometimes the perfect pairing is a glass of w**e and a really good potato chip.

For a limited time, we’re putting a salty, crunchy twist on w**e tasting with our Potato Chip & W**e Pairing Flight.

We’ve matched four of our w**es with four different chips to see what happens when unexpected flavors meet in the glass. Some pairings might surprise you. Some might make you wonder why you haven’t been pairing w**e and potato chips all along.

It’s a little unconventional. It’s definitely delicious. And it’s only here for a short time.

So… you want to know how w**e gets from THIS 🍇 to THIS 🍷?

Join us for W**e 101 on September 20 with Dr. Mitzi Batterson, owner of James River Cellars, as we break down the journey from grape to glass.

We’ll cover everything from grape growing and w**emaking to aging, blending, and tasting, along with what influences a w**e’s flavor and style. You’ll also get a little insight into Virginia’s w**e industry, the history of James River Cellars, and some practical tasting tips you can actually use.

And, of course, we’ll taste four w**es along the way!

No w**e degree required. No fancy vocabulary necessary. Just come ready to learn, taste, and maybe leave with a few new things to say about your favorite bottle.

Happy National Red W**e Day! 🍷

We’re celebrating with a look at just a few of the different red w**e styles you can find in our tasting room. Whether you like something light and fruit-forward, smooth and easy-drinking, bold and structured, or rich and full-bodied, there’s a red to explore.

With 10+ red w**es currently in the tasting room, there’s plenty of room to find a new favorite, or discover that your palate likes something completely different than you expected. 🍷

There are still a few more summer afternoons to savor.

On Sunday, September 6, we’re spending one of them at the w**ery with w**e, b**r, oysters, live music, local makers, and good food. A pretty good way to ease into Labor Day weekend and enjoy a little more of summer before the season changes.

Greggory’s Grill will be serving oysters, El Guapo will have tacos, and the Abrams Bridge Band will be playing from 1 to 4. You can wander through the local craft vendors, settle in with a glass of James River Cellars w**e, or try a craft b**r from our friends at

We’ve spent this summer celebrating 25 years of w**emaking at James River Cellars, and we’re grateful to have spent so much of that time surrounded by this community. We’re looking forward to sharing the afternoon with you.

Celebrate Spoil Your Dog Day with us at James River Cellars! 🐾

Join us this Saturday, August 8, from 12:00–5:00pm for a free, family-friendly afternoon dedicated to the dogs who make life a little sweeter.

We love welcoming dogs to James River Cellars year-round, and Spoil Your Dog Day is our favorite opportunity to celebrate our four-legged guests and the people who love them.

Admission is free, and well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome. We hope you'll gather your family, friends, and favorite pup for an afternoon of wagging tails, great w**e, and unforgettable memories.
