2026 Thanksgiving turkey pre-orders open to the public in mid-September each year. That means TOMORROW! Saturday September 19.

If you’ve been waiting for your Edge Farms turkey, this is your heads-up.

We’ll have approx. 150 birds available, with size options and all the details you’ll need to choose the right bird or parts for your table.

And because we know some of you have already started asking…
Yes. You will be able to choose your size through our online store & prepay the (same every year!) $50 deposit to reserve it.

Well that’s intriguing!
Yes this is what I find myself researching at 3 am when I cannot sleep.

A new wireless device – lighter than a U.S. dime and shaped like a tiny chef’s hat – can track the brain waves of animals as they move in natural habitats, opening doors to understanding complex behaviors that are impossible to study in the lab.

In a paper published last week, Cornell University College of Arts and Sciences researchers provide a proof-of-concept for the device, which includes flexible probes that can track groups of neurons for months, as well as different modules to manipulate brain activity or log an animal’s locomotion and orientation, vocalizations, and eye movements.

The device, called the Wireless, Interactive, Lightweight Datalogger (WILD), will allow researchers to study how the brain responds to changes in a natural environment and group social contexts for the first time.

We’re adding for more families in Media to become part of The Edge Farms community.

Not just customers who live in Delco... People who care to know where their eggs come from.

- People who recognize the chickens when they see them in a photo.
- People who ask how the baby goatees are doing.
- People who start planning meals around what’s coming from the farm this week.

We have a growing pickup community near Springton Lake Middle School, and we’d love to see more neighbors join it.

Because one of the best things about a local farm isn’t simply having better food.

It’s realizing that the people raising it are actually your peers.

Yesterday, Alexandra got a reminder that farm life can go from completely ordinary to oh no! in about three seconds.

Some days on the farm are muddy boots and baby animals.

The tractor was pulling the Water Buffalo trailer with 400 gallons of water on board—a very heavy load. (About 2.5 tons) Coming down the hill, it skidded & then slid.

There is a particular kind of fear that showed up… The trailer swung. The tractor jackknifed. The weight behind me kept moving.

For a few seconds, there wasn’t much to do except hold on & react.

Adrenaline is a hell of a thing. Everything gets very loud and very quiet.

Then it stopped.

I’m fine.
The tractor is fine.
The trailer is fine.
The 400 gallons of water are, apparently, now down at the animals hydrating them.

And I am very, very grateful.

Grateful for good equipment.

Grateful that this story ends with me sitting typing it instead of some different outcome.

Some days 400 gallons of water slide down a hill behind you.

It was both a reminder to respect the weight of what we move around here—and a damn good day to be grateful.

Why We Love Goat Milk Soap

One of my favorite parts of learning soapmaking is realizing just how connected everything is.

Healthy goats give nourishing milk.

That milk becomes handmade soap.

The soap becomes part of someone’s daily routine.

And eventually… the tiny soap scraps return to the earth.

It’s a beautiful reminder that farming isn’t just about growing food.

It’s about learning how natural systems can support everyday life.

Every new skill we learn opens another way to steward what our animals already provide.

That’s one of the adventures we’re excited to keep sharing with you

Downingtown neighbors — we’ve got a little farm news for you. 🥚🌱

Our Downingtown pickup location has been part of our farm family for more than two years now, and we think it’s ready for a little growing.

We love having a piece of the farm right in the neighborhood—bringing our eggs and other farm goodness closer to the people who live around Applecross Estates, the local fire company, and the surrounding Downingtown community.

AND here’s an important part:

A neighborhood pickup works when the neighborhood uses it.

So we’d love to see this location grow into the farm-to-neighborhood hub we know it can be.

🥚 Sign up for an egg subscription and make farm eggs part of your regular routine. Pick up every other Sunday.

🍯 Add some local raw honey to your order.

🦃 Reserve your Thanksgiving turkey in Sept, before the holiday rush.

After more than two years, we don’t want to just pack up this little farm outpost and send it down the road.

Not the week before Thanksgiving.

Not when you suddenly realize that everyone is coming to your house and you have no idea how many pounds of turkey 17 people require.😳

Mid-September.

Put it on your calendar.

We’ll take care of the turkey part.

You can worry about everything else. 😂🥰
