From The Mayor Of Glenn Heights

There is something especially meaningful about watching a dream that began right here in the City of Glenn Heights, TX grow into something bigger. 🌟

In 2024, Marcus and Cree Perryman received their very first vending opportunity for UncleMarcs BackRub during the City of Glenn Heights’ Black History Month celebration. It was a grassroots beginning, but what they have built since then is the result of their own vision, hard work, persistence, and determination.

They kept showing up. They kept building. They kept believing in what they created. 💪🏾

From local vending opportunities to farmers markets, trade days, retail partnerships, online sales, and now recognition as a 2026 H-E-B Quest for Texas Best Finalist, Marcus and Cree have demonstrated what entrepreneurship really looks like. It is not simply having a good idea. It is having the tenacity to keep moving forward when growth is slow, opportunities are uncertain, and the next door has not yet opened.

As Mayor, I am proud that Glenn Heights was able to provide one of those early opportunities. But that opportunity was only the beginning. Marcus and Cree did the work. They turned a local opportunity into a growing Texas business, and that is something our entire community can celebrate. ✨

Glenn Heights, please join me in congratulating the Perryman family on this tremendous accomplishment. When you see Marcus and Cree in our community, take a moment to congratulate them, encourage them, and let them know that their hometown is proud of what they have achieved.

Their story is also a reminder of why creating opportunities for local entrepreneurs matters. Sometimes one opportunity becomes the beginning of something much larger. 🌱
