It’s Mead Family Market’s second week of our G.O.A.T-orade program, and this week we’re shining a little extra light on Morton Varsity Huskies volleyball standout and three-year team captain, Ryelin Wiedenmann! There’s something pretty special about watching a team come together, and the Morton volleyball girls have been doing exactly that. Coming off a tough five-set heartbreaker against Naselle, these Huskies picked themselves up, found their momentum, and went on to win four straight games, all in sweeps! And Ryelin has been right there in the middle of it all. In their 25-8, 25-15, 25-21 sweep over Willapa Valley, Ryelin put together an incredible performance with nine kills and three aces, helping lead the Huskies to a strong home victory. Then, against Columbia Adventist, she was back at it again, recording two aces, going perfect from the service line, and combining with Brooklyn Montoure for 27 kills at the net. That's the kind of consistency, determination, and effort that makes a difference! And while those stats are certainly something to celebrate, there's a whole lot more to this young lady than what shows up in a box score. This girl has been a team captain for THREE YEARS, and if that doesn't tell you something about the kind of athlete and teammate she is, we don't know what does. Being trusted to lead your teammates year after year is something that speaks volumes, and from everything we hear and see, Ryelin takes that responsibility to heart. She's the kind of teammate who doesn't just celebrate the big wins and amazing plays, but who is there to encourage her girls when things aren't going their way, too. When the energy dips or the game gets tough, she's still showing up for the people beside her. But wait, because Ryelin's accomplishments don't stop at volleyball, She's also a all-around athlete who continues to challenge herself in sports, and she's tackling Running Start while maintaining a 3.7 GPA or higher. She's balancing practices, games, schoolwork, and everything else that comes with being a student-athlete. That's a whole lot of commitment packed into one young lady, and we think it's pretty incredible! Ryelin, congratulations on being our SECOND G.O.A.T-orade nominee! Keep working hard, keep being the teammate your girls can count on, and keep showing everyone what it looks like to lead with heart. Whether you're on the court, in the classroom, or out there competing in another sport, you're representing yourself, your team, and our community in a way that makes us proud. And to all our Morton Huskies volleyball girls, keep that momentum rolling! We're cheering you on every step of the way.
