Today is rooster processing day!!!

We raise our chickens primarily for eggs. Just like with our other animals our chickens are hertiage breeds so we do not raise broilers for meat. Heritage breeds meat tend to be vastly different from modern day chicken. The flavor is better by far and stronger. However the meat is tougher. The best way to cook a Heritage bird is low and slow. Think stews, soups, broth. With this batch I plan on using the most out of them and cooking the meat and saving the shredded chicken. Then using the carcasses to make chicken broth. Now here's the best part......

Our chickens currently free range and because of this and us watching our chicken number closely they have been able to forage all of their food from the acerage meaning these birds didn't cost us money to raise.

We have been very busy these last 3 weeks having welcomed our 4th baby into our family. That being said farming never slows down and we have been hard at work getting prepped for our launch. Part of that has been adding our newest partner to the team. Everyone welcome easy our boarder collie. He will play a very important role in our milking business. Part of having our animals out on a large acerage is also being able to get them to come in twice a day for milking. That's where easy comes in. He has been with us for about two weeks and this is our third time out practicing together.

Hi everyone,
Here are some fun updates on our farm. Our dairy building is currently being engineered which should be completed in about 3 weeks then onto construction. Construction should last about 3 months. Our planned launch date is set for January of this upcoming year.

We now have 10 jersey cows and 19 dairy goats some expecting and some that will be bred later in the season.

We have completed some practice batches of our products and they have turned our very well.
