Today, I ask for your vote to elect Josh Bedell as an Oklahoma Delegate to the American Angus Convention.
Although I was honored and surprised to have been nominated, the truth is I had no intention of running as a delegate this year. I’ve been laser focused on just trying to breed good cattle, take care of our customers, and build our brand as we prepare for our inaugural auction sale on April 10th, 2026.
However, phone calls and messages started coming regarding the delegate nomination and frankly, they haven’t stopped. Folks are encouraging me to lean into this nomination. People are asking for my position on topics such as the Bezos grant and whether I would be at the convention to vote.
Up until now, I felt the time wasn’t right to pursue being a delegate. I felt I was “too busy,” that I was too “new” to the registered business and was very uncomfortable with the attention. After discussing this with many AAA Members, it is clear that this is not only the right time, but potentially the only time that truly matters. The American Angus Association is at a crossroads.
My pledge is as follows:
· To support any board candidate that is principled, business minded, and runs on the basis of transparency & accountability.
· To support policies that promote transparency & accountability (i.e.. more frequent member surveys, publication of all board member votes and publishing all external agreements to the membership).
· To support candidates and policies that promote continued research and education without the subversion of our core principals.
Leading up to the August 4th deadline, I will make 2-3 additional posts further elaborating my perspectives on various Angus topics. American beef producers have an amazing story to tell; let’s tell it the right way, our way.
Thank you in advance for your support. The deadline is August 4th. NOW is the time.
