Always improving.🤓

Building a business doesn’t always happen out in the pasture. Some days it looks like cattle, fences and feed. Other days it looks like a laptop at the kitchen table and hours spent working behind the scenes.

We’ve been putting a lot of time into improving our website, developing new ideas, and building the next pieces of what we want this whole operation to become.

We started with a vision for the ranch, but that vision continues to grow beyond the pasture. We’re building, learning and creating new ventures one step at a time.

Keep checking back — there’s a lot more happening behind the scenes, and we’re excited to share it as it grows.

One day at a time. One venture at a time. 🌾💻

🐂 Why do we “cake train” our cattle?

It might look like we’re just spoiling them with treats, but cake training actually serves a pretty important purpose on the ranch.

“Cake” is a supplemental cattle feed, and using it consistently as a treat teaches our herd that people = something positive, rather than something to fear. That matters more than you might think.

A calm, comfortable herd is easier to check, move, sort and handle when they need routine care. Instead of cattle becoming stressed every time we enter the pasture, we want them comfortable enough to approach us willingly — especially when there’s a tiny ranch hand helping with the job. 🥹

Low-stress handling is also important for the cattle themselves. Chronic or excessive stress can negatively affect health, immune function, weight gain and overall performance. And when it eventually comes time for processing, minimizing stress before slaughter is an important part of protecting both animal welfare and meat quality.

Our goal isn’t simply to raise cattle.

We want to raise healthy, well-cared-for cattle that have a good quality of life from beginning to end. 🌾

So yes… ours might come running when they see us carrying the cake bucket. 😂

We’ll happily take a herd that associates its people with food, scratches and good things.

Happy cattle. Calm cattle. Quality care. Quality beef. 🐂🤎

And apparently, training the next generation starts pretty young around here. 😉

What if your ranch records could tell you what’s coming next?

Most ranchers already keep records.

Births.
Breedings.
Weights.
Vaccinations.
Pasture moves.
Hay.

The problem is that those records are usually scattered across a binder, a clipboard, a spreadsheet, your phone—and sometimes your memory.

By the time you realize something needs attention, you’re already dealing with it.

Hoofprint was built to change that.

It puts your ranch records in one place and adds a forecast on top—helping you see what deserves your attention before it becomes tomorrow’s problem.

🐄 Which cows are coming up on their calving window?

🌾 How many days of hay do you actually have left?

🌱 Is a pasture getting close to needing a move?

📈 Which calves are gaining—and which ones are falling behind?

Instead of digging through records every morning, Hoofprint gives you the information in plain language, right on your phone.

Less paper. More sense of the herd before the morning starts.

We’re opening Hoofprint in small onboarding waves for cow-calf, stocker, and family ranches.

👉 Join the waitlist — it’s free and there’s no contract:

If you’re still running part of your ranch from a binder, clipboard, spreadsheet, or three different apps, this was built for you.

Y’all-Texas ranching isn’t for the faint of heart. 🥵

The heat has been absolutely brutal lately — for the cattle and the people taking care of them. 😂 Lots of water, lots of shade, and plenty of checking on the herd to make sure everyone is handling these Texas summer days well.

But even on the miserable hot days, there’s something pretty special about looking out and seeing our herd.

We’re still growing. Still learning. Still improving our operation. And we’re just getting started. 🌾

With more imported beef entering the American market and plenty of uncertainty facing cattle producers, one thing hasn’t changed for us:

🇺🇸 We believe in American ranching.

We believe there will always be value in knowing where your beef comes from, supporting local producers, and raising cattle right here at home.

So a little Texas heat — and a whole lot of imported beef — isn’t going to stop us from building what we started. 💪🏼🐂

Our first two babies are growing up! 🐮🤎

Oliver and Elvis are officially eating hay, becoming more independent, and learning the ropes around the ranch. These two are truly two peas in a pod — you’ll rarely find one without the other close behind, almost as if they were brothers.

Watching them grow, develop their personalities, and become part of the herd is one of the best parts of what we do.

It’s safe to say Oliver and Elvis already have us completely wrapped around their adorable little ears. 🫶🏻🐄

We’re excited to continue sharing their growth and life here on the ranch!

🐄 WE BUILT AN APP FOR RANCHERS!!!🌾

And not just another complicated piece of software that gives you one more headache.

We built Hoofprint to replace the notebooks, breeding cards, feed receipts, spreadsheets, pasture notes, and random information scattered everywhere — and put your ranch in one place, right on your phone.

Hoofprint is built for cow-calf operations, stockers, and family ranches — especially the ones still doing a whole lot of record keeping the old-fashioned way.

With Hoofprint you can:

🐮 Keep individual herd records — births, breeding, preg checks, treatments & more
📅 Track breeding information and forecast upcoming calving windows
🌾 Track hay inventory and estimate how many days of feed you have left
🌱 Track pasture use and watch for grazing pressure
💉 Record vaccinations, lot numbers & withdrawal dates
⚖️ Track birth, weaning, yearling & sale weights
📈 Follow Average Daily Gain to see which calves are performing
🤖 And use AI built around YOUR ranch records to help turn all that information into something useful.

The idea was simple:

Less time digging through records.
More time actually running the ranch.
Meaning more time with family.

We created this because we wanted something we would actually use ourselves — simple enough to pull up on your phone while you’re standing at the chute, in the pasture, or checking cattle.

🚜 Hoofprint is now open for ranchers to check out, and we’re building our first group of users.

Take a look, play around with the site, check out the features and pricing, and join the waitlist if this is something you’d use on your operation.

And if you know a cattle producer who still has a stack of notebooks, binders and receipts keeping their operation together… tag them or send this their way. 😂🐄

We’d love to hear what actual ranchers want to see us build next!

Why is a Charolais × Angus Cross Is Such a Cool Combination???

A Charlangus cross combines two of the most respected beef breeds:

🤎 Angus is famous for its rich marbling, tenderness, and excellent maternal instincts.

🤍 Charolais is known for its impressive muscle, rapid growth, and exceptional carcass yield.

When you put the two together, you often get the best of both worlds thanks to something called hybrid vigor—a natural boost that can lead to healthier, hardier, faster-growing calves.

Together, they create a balanced animal that’s well suited for many Texas operations:
☀️ Able to perform in hot Texas summers when provided with plenty of water, shade, and good management.
🌾 Efficient grazers that can make good use of Texas pastures.
🥩 Produce a high-yield carcass with the marbling consumers expect from Angus-influenced beef.
💪 Benefit from hybrid vigor, which often means healthy, vigorous calves and strong overall performance.

Nature and genetics are pretty amazing, eh?

Hey- did y’all know?
The Grass Matters Just as Much as the Cattle!

One of the coolest things about raising cattle in the Granbury area is what’s growing beneath our feet.

Our ranch sits in the Cross Timbers region of North Central Texas, where native grasses like little bluestem, Indiangrass, and sideoats grama have thrived for centuries. These deep-rooted prairie grasses are built for Texas—able to withstand heat, bounce back after drought, and help protect the soil from erosion. (soilseries.sc.egov.usda.gov)

Here’s the really cool part-
Some native prairie grasses can send roots 6–10 feet into the ground, allowing them to reach moisture long after shallow-rooted plants have dried up. Those roots also improve soil health and store carbon, making healthy pastures good for both cattle and the land. (foragefax.tamu.edu)

Healthy pastures mean healthy cattle. Every big ol’ bite they take starts with the incredible grasses that have made Texas ranching possible for generations and why we chose this area to call home❤️

Nature really did know what it was doing. 🤠🐂 Our native pasture on 150+ acres hasn’t been heavily planted, so our cattle are grazing a diverse mix rather than just one grass species!

It’s actually a pretty big advantage for us because different plants peak at different times of year, giving our cattle a more varied diet.
