SIX YEARS AGO TODAY, A BEAUTIFUL BABY WAS BORN… and my husband named it Soul by the Pound Cakes! If you would’ve told me years ago that I would become the Queen of Pound Cake after never baking anything from scratch in my life besides a 1-2-3-4 cake, I would’ve said, “You a lie and the truth ain’t in you!” 😂

I owe all of this to my mom. I wanted to do something to remember and honor her. So one day in May 2020, I pulled out a two-part angel food cake pan and did my best to make her Cream Cheese Pound Cake. I couldn’t find her recipe, so I looked up a few recipes and came up with my own. Who knew that one cake would be the start of something so much bigger? Something new. Something that would allow me to honor and remember my mom almost every single day of my life. Because every cake I bake is connected to the seeds she planted in me; seeds of excellence, perseverance, creativity, commitment, passion, and love.

I don’t come from a lineage of bakers. But I do come from a lineage of women who know how to work hard, who know how to hustle, and who know how to make a dollar out of 15 cents! And I am VERY proud of what I’ve created and accomplished so far. My goal is for Soul by the Pound Cakes to become a household name. I want people to feel like a celebration, family gathering, or holiday just isn’t complete without one of my cakes on the table.

One thing these six years have taught me is that when you start a business, you don’t have to have everything figured out. I definitely didn’t! But you DO have to research your craft, be consistent, keep learning, and stay organized. And most importantly, you have to keep going.

To every single person who has ever purchased a cake, a slice, a cinnamon roll, a gift card, or simply shared my business with someone….THANK YOU! Every order, referral, share, like, comment, and word of encouragement has helped me get here, and I truly appreciate you all.
