We had a great weekend at the Northeast Washington Dairy Goat Association show in Davenport! This was the first solo show for the herd milkmaid, and with all the support from great friends it won’t be the last. We didn’t get any rosettes, but thanks to Kristine Struve-Hagan Beauty took first in a very competitive 3 year old class under Judge Kris Fraley. Overall I’m happy with the girls’s placings. Most of their classes were 20+ does and they usually placed in the top 10. Thanks to Fyre Family Farm and Hanni Mountain Farms for driving over with me and helping me show. Also thanks to Justin with Long Acres Farm for helping me show one of my sassy 2 year olds.

Update: Sold! Millie is looking for a new herd to call her own. She is a 3 year old, 3rd freshener who kidded unassisted with quadruplets on April 5. She has excellent stand manners with both hand and machine milking. She has a beautiful, blue eyed doeling who could go with her. The doeling’s sire has 2 daughters in our herd who are producing 4.5-5 pounds of milk per day and placed in the top half of their huge class at the Udder Spectacular show this last weekend. We had a great weekend at The Udder Spectacular ! We took 4 milking does and 3 dry yearlings. It was encouraging to see some nice placings for our girls in the very large Nigerian Dwarf classes.

We got some updated pictures of our 2 year old first fresheners. We have been eagerly waiting to see how Fiona would freshen, but Frost is our pleasant surprise! She took 6th in a class of 24 beautiful animals under Judge Kelcie Wolboldt, and 9th of 24 under Judge Ed Jodlowski. The judges both complimented the animals at the show and talked about the depth of quality in each class.

Beauty took 2nd in a class of 17 3 year olds under Judge Kelcie Wolboldt!

We can't thank Holley Steller enough for organizing such a fantastic show!

So excited for Moonlight and Hanni Mountain Farms! Moonlight’s dam just had her first milk test. As a FIRST FRESHENER she had 4.7lbs of milk, 6.04% fat and 3.6% protein at only 1 month fresh! We are also excited to see what Fiona and her daughter do in the show ring this summer. Fiona still has 1 doe and 1 buck kid available!

Happy Spring!

It's a busy time of year for most of us, but I hope you make time to attend the Northwest All Breed Goat Club annual spring meeting. Please see attached photo for information, and let me know if you have any questions.

One important point- the location is Skagit Farmers Supply Conference room at their office facility. This is not at the store. Use this address for the correct building:

1833 Park Lane, Burlington, WA

Also, we are having a potluck lunch at noon, so please bring something to share while having a fun social gathering before the business meeting.

Hope to see you there!
